Zavasta M85

I've got a long history of voiding warranties. I think this one will be a fun problem to try to solve.
Also doesn't hurt that I have a machinist in the family who'll build pretty much anything for a bottle of "Cap't Mo".

I just finished bedding my M85 and got it all back together. I checked my bolt for the same "slippage" issue Exoce+ has and mine is tight with no movement. My bolt guide doesn't slip forward into the bolt area and prevent the bolt from opening. You may have something broken on your bolt.

If anyone decides they want to bed their M85 there is a gotcha to watch out for. The bottom of the receiver has a threaded area that the bolt goes into, it's easy to accidentally get your bedding material up through that hole before you insert the screw to tighten the action. Once the bedding material is up inside the receiver it will prevent the bolt from closing and could be a pain to remove. You'll need to block that hole with modeling clay before you clamp it together and insert the bolt. Don't ask how I figured that one out. ☺️

Good read, and thanks for sharing. Always wanted to get m' paws on a Zavasta.

I was enamoured with a bolt 7.62x39. Acquired a chamber adapter for a Chilean Mauser with intent of making something that was fun for new/young shooters. Since acquired a l'il Norinco already in 7.62x39 so Chilean project n'er finished. Long n' dark nights ahead so it might get a debut in '16.

I got 2 m85s in my safe at the moment. I like em alot, great for teaching new shooters, cheap ammo, low recoil. Tho it has a few quirks that may give it a poor impression.

I would say get the CZ if you can fork out the extra cash its a far nicer rifle. But the Zastava is still a decent rifle.

Interesting video. I was trying to listen to the narration, but I found myself so mesmerized by the twitching and gyrating of the long-haired guy's trigger finger that I got distracted. Watch his trigger control...it is unbelievable! :) If he jerked and slapped that trigger any harder you would expect to hear a toilet flushing.

lol, It took a while but he has learned the ways of the jedi since the filming of the video, that was his first gun/time shooting.
