So apparently going to buy $20 of targets at my local gun shop in Brandon turned a whole lot more expensive... I was at the Wood Joynt in Brandon, and while waiting to pay, saw a beautiful Sig P226 sitting in the display. Hmm, I should take a look at that, not intending to buy it at all. Then I saw it. Made in W. Germany. Oh crap, I'm screwed. Then I look at the date code; KB. Uh-oh... that's my fiances nickname, and KB stands for manufactured in '91... uh-oh, that's my fiances year of birth...

I think we all know where this is headed, so to make a long story just a little longer I decided that would be a perfect wedding gift for my bride, as one of our first dates was to go to the same store to buy my first pistol, a P226 Classic 22. We will see how this goes over. Now without further ado:

It came in its original cardboard box:

A custom hardened chrome job by whoever owned it previous. It was sitting next to a matching Desert Eagle in .44 mag. If anyone has seen this gun before, I'd love to know who did this chrome (apparently out east somewhere). It looks awesome.

I have wanted one that says this for a long time:

I think she will like it.

Sorry for the long winded post. Maybe you can tell I am excited.

Nice gun, great find. Also sounds like you lucked out in finding a girl that would be happy to receive a firearm for a wedding gift... Marry her and do anything necessary to make her happy.

very nice. there was one posted up here a while ago that was all hard chrome and I LOVED it.... I just hope I don't come across one at any store I walk into as it will have to be added to the collection.

great find! and I hope she likes it... just to be safe, leave the mags out of the case when you give it to her to make it that much harder to load... lol

Well no range report yet, but from dry firing at home, I can say that this gun is in pretty good shape. Fit and finish is very good, and the trigger feels fantastic. Actually, it feels a lot better than my newer P226, though I think that is because it is much more broken in. The double action pull is a fair bit less than my newer one, I would say by a pound or two. I am assuming this is more to do with age than design differences. Anyone know if the older ones have a lighter DA pull?

I would blame it on tired springs and well worn together parts (Or trigger job?).

The main hammer spring starts to get noticeably light after 5000 rounds. When buying a used semi-automatic, it is always good to replace the recoil spring and the main spring with original springs.

I tried using wolff once, but their stuff is junk compared to original Sig Sauer. There is a mark on the recoil spring too, which indicates the correct orientation, I can't remember at this time which way it goes though. Once you get your grips off you'll be able to see what style of hammer spring you have, as there was a couple different springs Sig used according to the vintage of the pistol.

I don't always Necropost..... but when I do it's for W. German Sigs ;).

Very nice look there. Did your fiance like it?

Also wanted to chime in and say it kind of looks like a combination that R005t3r would do. He's also a bit eastern so perhaps it's one of his beauties.
