So I was down at my local gun shop looking at the new Zeiss HD5 scopes the other day when the owner of the store came over to me ( I know him very well) and told me that he didn't recomend them even though he has prob 15 or so of them sitting there. He told me in a private conversation that he has had 5 recent customers buy them and with a few months of use had to send them back for warranty work. He said problems ranged from turrets locking or seizing up to focus not working some case both problems at the same time. He recomended to me that I should look for older conquest instead even though he didn't have any to sell me. So my question is has anyone else heard of these problems? I am very sure the owner of the store would not encourage a $1000 sale to walk out the door unless there was some substance to the story.

I know people who have them and have had no issues so far. I havn't read anything on other forums either. I doubt he has a hidden agenda but youd think if other dealers were having similar failures you'd hear about it.

Well I looked on other forums as well and seen nothing about this. Now I do trust my local guy and like really why would he discourage me from dropping over a grand in his store if there was no truth to it. Maybe he got a bad batch who knows. There was another thread on here a few weeks ago about a guy who couldn't get his turret to turn but after his first post he never answerd back to any of the replies. I do remember my local guy saying that they were mostly if not all 5-25 power models

We sell quite a few Zeiss scopes (along with every other major brand) and have yet to hear of this problem. If I felt like the store owner who was mentioned I would send all of the product back. I will contact my Zeiss rep and will try to get more info. Phil.
