Zeiss parallax question

Just curious, are the yardage markers on my Zeiss conquest scope factory set at those distances or are they just put on there as a rough reference. I ask because my 200yd marker is much clearer and parallax free at 100 yards than when set at the 100yd marker.

Its a rough reference. I never trust those numbers and many higher end scopes have no numbers at all.

Focus and then back your your head up from the scope until you see the beginnings of an even black ring around the perimeter of the picture and you'll eliminate parallax. Learn to do this consistently and your shooting will improve. It places your eye dead centre with the rear lenses rather than relying on internal mechanical adjustments.

It's just a good guess. On a side focus you can usually slip the scale so at least one will be right.
