I bought a Zeiss Conquest 3x9 50 scope about 2.5 years ago. Put about 200 rounds through my Tikka T3 Stainless using that scope. After an outing to Silverdale this summer I noticed what looked like some debris stuck inside the scope - it looked like a small black spot on the internal lense. I delayed for a few months but finally took the scope down to Gentec for service. The tech at Gentec told me that it looks like some lense coating on the internal lense peeled off and the scope will have to be shipped down to the States for repair or they might even replace the scope if they determine the damage is too severe(turnaround might be 10 weeks).
I would usually blame this on crappy American craftsmanship(all my pistols, rifles and shotguns are made in Europe) but the Zeiss Conquest scopes are supposedly only assembled in the USA so I would think that the lenses are made in Germany and coated in Germany so it looks like the Germans are making crap now too. Do you have to spend over 2k to get something good these days.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with a Zeiss scope?
