Anyone have any experience with zeiss scopes? I'm looking at getting a 1.5-6X42 Diavari. I've got an older set of Zeiss binoculars and really like them but don't have any experience with their scopes. Comments appreciated.

Zeiss scopes are great. I only have a Conquest and I'm really impressed with it. I find the glass to be excellent, and IMO, much clearer than more expensive Leupold scopes. Don't worry, you'll love it.

Top notch...not much else to say. There's a few different models. Conquest through to Diavari...price goes up as the quality increases. Buy one, you'll like it.

Zeiss

Had a conquest, liked it. The glass was clear and it was a good scope. It was just a little bulky for my liking. Still a big fan of the Leupolds though. They are just a little more compact and lighter for me.

I have the 1.5 x6 -42 Diavari owned it fo the last 21 years still functions as new never needed service been on a few rifles from .243 -300 rum has a few ring marks but I figured buy the best you can afford and have it for life so far its on my winchester 70 in 270wsm it has the heavy duplex compared with my 4.5x14-44 conquest that has the finner type I like them more as for lowlight the diavari blows the doors of the coquest its like the light just was turned on the diavari is the envy of a few of my hunting partners along with my same vintage 10x40 ziess binos good product was expensive back then but 21 years later still nothing much better in my opinion lets see them in 21 more years

Bought a 1.5-4.5 Diavari to replace a Leupold Vari-X III .. outstanding!
then a 3-9x,36 Diavari C, 6x,42 and 4x,32 C Diatal. They are all excellent scopes and a pleasure to look through and use. I particularly like the colour AND contrast they offer.

Great scope. Just keep in mind that the reticle is in the first focal plane, meaning it will enlarge as the zoom power is turned up. Some people don't like this feature.

Bearkilr makes an excellent point!!!! The Diavari C (no longer made) are second focal plane reticles and don't change size with the power - the standard Diavari do however. If you are used to standard North American scopes this will be "different"

I should never have bought my first Zeiss ... it has got too pricey as I liked it so much that I just had to add to it a pair of Zeiss binos. You will love the glass and the quality of Zeiss.
