Zeiss terra

I have a 4-12 Terra scope, it is not as clear as my Nikon Monarchs. I had it on a K31 and that killed it within 6 months. Sent it in for warranty, was told it could take 6 months to repair (so I bought the Nikon and never looked back), but a replacement was sent without any communication 2 months later. I have it on a 7.62x39 rifle now, I won't put it on a larger calibre that I hunt in fear of the cross hairs shaking loose again.

Well I took a gamble and took a 4-12 Terra on trade and put it on my T3 243. thought i would put this on for anyone else wondering about a Terra. The glass is clear, and the reticle is crisp, however, around the edges seems to be slightly blurry. The low light performance is very good, it is almost as bright as my older Conquest. After zeroing the rifle i put 6 shots in a loonie size circle at 100 yds, but time will tell how reliable it is. Hope this helps anyone else considering a Terra scope.

love mine on my 25-06. sighted it in at 200 yard in 5 shots. backed up to 400 yards and I shot a 3 shot group under 4 inches.

Got one on a used rifle, the 2-7x i had was not impressive. Edge clarity was not good and lots of tunnel vision. Kept my 1.75-6 vx3 instead.

I was looking at this scope very hard as it seems to have what I'm looking for in a 3-9x42 but there are some mixed reviews. I gather some feel it's overpriced for what you get?

Theyre alright.

I'm assuming that's a compliment (excellent glass)?

Just alright? Is that the 3-9x42?

Yes I would say its alright. The lens is nice on the eyes, but the outside portion approx 20-25% does seem blurry. My Leupold VX-1 is preferred between the two, for sure. Although the 1/4 MOA turrets are nicer to adjust on the zeiss vs the vx1 leupold.

I was told by a Zeiss customer service rep that the glass is the same as the older Conquests they replaced.

Ive followed the Zeiss threads for a while. The older Zeiss Conquests were made in an entirely different factory with different materials. The Terra uses the cheapest they could find and still pass QC for Zeiss. If you look between the 2 you would see there is a difference in glass. Also a different coating used, if that matters.
The "glass" may be the same but that's about it.
