Zeiss Victory RF Bino/Rangefinder: Opinions & Reviews

Yeah, either that or maybe they're just adding a rangefinder to the binocular sizes which are popular and sell well. ;)

Possibly...all is I know is I own the product that the OP was asking about and I personally have no trouble holding it steady enough to range well beyond 1,000 yards. I know many sheep guides that own various brands of RF binos and all use 10x and I haven't heard one complain about them being too shaky to properly range and I haven't heard one say they wish they had 8x. Take that for what it's worth.

Purchased the Zeiss Victory 10x42 NON RF binos last night...amazing. Should I need the ranging will take the vectors out...txs for input!!

Cameraland has the 10x45 for $2800, still $1000 less than Cabela's, before customs fees.

And my experience has actually been the opposite. Most guys that have a 10x bino/RF unit prefer my 8x as they have an easier time steadying it. Those who do competitive long range shooting generally use a spotter and RF only unit, which incidentally are in the 6-8x range.

Then again, dedicated mountain hunters usually have a spotter with them anyhow, it's tough to age a ram with 10x bino's at 1 mile away, even for the most experienced. ;)

Thanks for the "heads-up" bearkilr. I just received mine from Cameraland yesterday. I was lucky and managed to snag a pair of brand new demos and saved about $1,000 over new. Neil from Cameraland was absolutely fantastic and treated me very well. I'll see how they perform on the northern whitetails next week! Cheers

I just had the opportunity to take a pair of the Swarovski 10x42mm EL range finding binos out last weekend. The weather was bad with lots of falling and blowing snow. I was able to target a deer at 685m without a problem. My partner had a pair of Leica's and was not able to get a reading. In my opinion the 10x bino's work just fine. As an aside only Swarovski provides the same level of light transmission in both barrels making their images appear brighter than the other too.

Which Leica, the new bino/RF combo Geovid HD-B or the rangefinder only unit?
Also, AFAIK, Zeiss is the only one of the three who went to a 45mm objective from 42mm to make up for the lost light transmission caused by the RF unit. I'm not sure how Swarovski and Leica can boast the same light transmission as the binocular only unit. All tests I've read claim that there is a loss regardless of manufacturer.
I've tried all three of the new bino/rf units and for me it was a toss up for ranging quality and optics. It came down to price and ergonomics. I didn't like the big bulges on the barrels of the Swarovski and both were $1000 more than the on sale Zeiss.
Regardless, all three are great units.

Swarovski does not state that the light transmission is the same as their regular binos they state that the light transmission is the same in both barrels of the binos. The light transmission is a little less than their regular binos, but higher in the laser barrel than the competitors.
My friend had the Geovid HD bino/RF combo. They could not lase a target past 300m in the falling snow.
