I never dealt with Zeiss warranty, nor any other optics warranty. However, how efficient is Zeiss warranty?

It depends.

I sent in a buddies broken scope and got a replacement that was waaaaaaay more expense than what i sent in.

But it took 3 months......

about 5 weeks ago , I sent in a new in box scope that I purchased last year that the illumination wasn't working on. I sent it to Markham and they sent it to the states. I got a message yesterday that it is at the warranty center in the US and that it is generally 8 to 12 weeks for service. Needless to say, I am not impressed !

It appears that Zeiss service is not in a hurry to return their items back to the owners. Does not sound like great service, especially when their optics cost thousands.....stinkers!

I sent in a spotting scope I bought used on the EE to the distributor. It had some black spots on the inside of the lens. It got sent to Europe and I got a bramnd new replacement in just under 3 months as they were not able to repair it. I didn't need to provide a receipt.

I've also sent over some much older optics for a once over that they refurbed for a very reasonable price.

I've had good service on the one Zeiss scope I sent to the USA for service. It was last year. They fixed the electronic illumination control. No questions no hassles, even though I was second owner and had no paperwork. Took a month or so, but I was very satisfied.

For the asking price of high end Zeiss scopes you wouldn't think you'd have to worry about warranty. Having said that many years ago my friend sprung for a Schmidt and Bender 8x56 that sh#t the bed after 2 years. He wasn't impressed.

I was watching a review video the other week on the S3 and it was actually from a Zeiss guy saying they only have a 5 year warranty (at least the S3's, cant speak for the rest on their line up). But after hearing that I would have a hard time paying Zeiss prices knowing it is not backed by a lifetime warranty.

I lost the neck strap on a pair of ZEISS binos. Gave them a call to see if I could buy one from them. They took my email, phone # and adress and said they would contact me with pricing. About a month later Purolator showed up with a new neck strap N/C. I thought it was quite nice.

This is the video I was referencing in my previous comment. My mistake, says 5 year no fault and then after the 5 years its manufactures defects only. The guy does state after the 5 year mark when you send it in there may or may not be a fee to repair.

Start watching around the 9:13 mark.

there warranty is a joke sent in a spotting scope that had moisture in the variable lens. this scope has been babied never been in a pack or on
an atv or horse its been in my truck and my house stored in a padded case, never exposed to weather . any way i sent it to canadian service center who forwarded it to zeiss US then i sent the the scope body . buy the way the shipping was on my dime . they denied warranty because they never seen anything like that before this scope is 8 years old . zeiss are junk
