Zermatt bighorn Origion action opinions?

I’m looking at putting together a rifle chambered in 6.5 PRC.
The Zermatt Action seems to be a really good price compared to most others.
Im just looking for something to shoot off the bench, no competition or whatever.
I’m going to look for a CFW barrel as well.
Was thinking rem 700 footprint.

So ,is there something better than the Zermatt at a similar price?

Better? That would be subjective. I would say nothing "better" only different. What could be called unique for this action over others in this price range is the controlled round feed and manual ejector.
There are positive and negatives to a control round feed action. Most argued is an inability to single feed a cartridge with the control round since it strips the round from the mag (under the bolt) and holds the round as it enters the chamber. Some controlled round actions can be single fed. The Zermatt Origin is one of those actions that can be single fed reliably.
The manual ejection is just that, there is no spring in the bolt face that pushes on the case when extracted. Instead the ejection is take care of by a fixed ejector at the rear of the bolt throw. Ejection strength is determined by how fast you cycle the bolt. You can drop the case right beside the rifle, great for bench shooting, or send the cases into a far away dimension.
I do not have an origin but I have a TL3 which is built as a 6 Dasher. I love the way the action feels and works.

One of the new options we have in Canada is the Lone Peak, now sold direct by its owner, MDT.

You mentioned a carbon fiber barrel, which implies you want a lightweight rig. Lone Peak makes a lightweight action, whereas the Zermatts are all "full weight".

You mention bench shooting being the primary use of this. Carbon fiber barrels are not a good choice for bench shooting. They don't hold up under sustained firing, in that they wear out faster and point of impact shifts more.

Was planning on getting a CFW 19 barrel,trigger tech, dropping in into the tac21.

Not overly concerned with weight but just wanted an aftermarket rem 700 clone that has a smooth bolt throw an an over sized bolt handle.
Nothing to pricy though lol

I would personally step it up one step above an origin, get a LP fusion, tl3, ruckus, 737 etc. nothing is wrong with the origin they are reliable and smoothish but…. Instead of a cfwb go with a m24+ contour full steel barrel, put the savings towards the action. Which eliminates the inevitable feeling of wanting to upgrade 3 months from now.

My personal preference is lonepeak in that price range.

60 rounds in a small barrel will take a while to shoot without excessive barrel heat.

I’m a fan of the MTU or IBI’s “Viking MTU” profile. It can handle more rounds without shifting your point of impact.

I saw this first hand at RFMA where a guy with a small barrel shooting 6.5CM was spraying rounds all over the steel at 600m (I was spotting for him). He was told by Rob to only shoot a few rounds then wait for about 15 mins. That barrel was hot.

Even after waiting he couldn’t hit 1000m.

I shot 10 rounds at 1000m, then filled my mag for him to shoot right after. My gun didn’t care and he nailed that steel all 10 times.
