everyone does 100 for centerfire. Aim about 2" higher when shooting at 200y.

(jk, just wanted to make a joke, but yeah 100 seems to be a sweet spot for most. Most hunts in ON - especially southern - rarely goes past 100yds)

The difference is minimal and your shooting an animal with an 8 inch kill zone. I would suggest what Jahnj recommended.

For a hunting rifle, 30-06, 2.5" high at 100 yards gives a point blank range of approximately 260 yards.

For dinner plate rifles they have BDC reticled LPVOs so zero the reticle at 100 yards.

My 308 deer rifle is 50 yard zero because my ground blind is 35 yards from the apple pile.

25, 300 is another option. I forget if that is 3" high at 100?

I've found that centered at 25, (also saves walking !) will pretty much center you at 100 . Once @ 100 you should be good out to 300 with a 3" hold over , or put it two inch high at the hundred and hold dead out to the three hundred ! Has worked for me for to many years to remember with my Rem. 760 in 308 using Win. 180 gr. Silver tips .

100 yards is normal. any distance over 200, I'm using a range finder and DOPE, so I don't bother with any other zero distances.

Basically just make sure you understand the trajectory of the specific bullet at the specific velocity you are shooting.
