zeroing a red dot on a rifle

On a rifle like yours, I tend to separate the upper, ditch the bcg at home, and bore sight the windage first. Then use a large target as mentioned above.

Point of aim point of impact? At 25 do you have it below point of aim. Is there a link to a thread about co witness iron sight to scope. Tried advice off you tube video do believe it was incorrect.
Had it zeroed at a hundred. But not working for close 5 shots for 1 beaver. Dot on beaver at 30 m rounds consistently hitting water in front of beaver. Yet at 100 m rounds punch steel plate 8 by 10 inch center of mass.
Able to punch steel at 450 m with set up yet can't hit a beaver at 30 m.
Having to eat humble pie.......

Oh well guess the wise shooters of the Internet are too busy.
so after searching through gunnutz and 2 other sites. 50 yard zero for a vortex strike fire will put the rounds were i need them to be.
And the awsome instruction manual downloaded from vortex site pretty much just says to zero at 25 and a 100.

Use sand bags or a bench rest to ensure good and secure, aim at the bulls eye or an "X" drawn on a cardboard.

Repeat but while aiming at the "X" adjust sight to move dot to point of impact (POI).
