zeroing the reticles

I've read somewhere that in order to zero the reticles one should put a mirror on the scope objective facing towards the lens, look through and then turn the clickers until the 4 reticles (2 real , 2 ghost images) align.
This also helped me figure out how good the rings/bases are in alignment with the barrel.

It works for all my scopes except for one: the Bushnell Elite 4200. I can see no ghost images of the reticles no matter how I look.

What gives?
 
Does this center the reticules along the axis of the scope, then? I must give it a whirl.

yes, with this technique you can not only center the reticules to the optical axis but also check how far they are from that axis.
The optical axis is midway between the reticules and the ghost images.
