Zev OZ9 your thoughts.

GASANWU I have not given any thought to the ZEV Fulcrum trigger but now I will. I find the factory trigger very smooth and crisp. Mine was in the recall group for the trigger issue and Millbrook did the swap out prior to the purchase. I have shot approximately 500 rounds with it from 115, 124 and 147 grain and I have had no issues with either Glock mags or PMags up to this point. The gun shoots extremely flat and the recoil is minimal. It just has a great feel. I have been a Glock fan since my first one in 1992 but I have to say I prefer the Zev grip angle. Since the gun is modular I contacted Black Box Customs for a shorty grip to mimic the size of a Glock 19 and inquired about compensators. Currently both items are on back order from the States so I will update after I receive them and put 1000 rounds through the gun.

I know it’s apples to oranges but anyone shot the OZ9 and a P80 serialized frame?

Fondled (yes I almost molested it) an 0Z9 grip and frame at BBC last week and loved it. Deciding on whether to get the frame and grip and Mag well ($970 plus tax) and then transplant my G3 lower partS and slide into it or spend the $200 on a P80 serialized frame just to see if the grip angle makes it worthwhile.

I know one is a Lambo and the other an F150 but if anyone has shot both and can offer a comparison it would be much appreciated.

Mark it

I had the trigger recall done as well. As far as factory triggers go, Q5SF is great, especially after being broken in, but still has some unnecessary take up before the break. However, the ZEV fulcrum trigger just completely takes out the take up and just makes for a very nice clean, almost crisp, break (for a striker fired gun). Yes, the grip angle on the ZEV is the winner I think. The mags that had snags were PMAG 17 rounders with divots pinned mags, but the regular 10 rounder PMAGs that came with the gun had no issues at all. Haven't really tried the Glock mags, since they are expensive and I take the magwell off for competition shooting anyway.

I have one and love it. So far the longest running handgun for me to use consistently. I love the glock parts interchangeability and the easy of cleaning. I just take the whole metal chassis out of the frame and drop it in my sonic.

Happy Zev user here. The first couple of hundred rounds had a few FTFs as things got run in a bit, but since then it's been 100% good for about 2000 rounds.

I did swap out the flat trigger for the fulcrum adjustable and it runs flawlessly. I like the extra weight, it helps follow up shots stay on target. I also own a G17MOS with the same trigger and really prefer the Zev.

While I really like the Trijicon SRO that I put on it, it would be nice if they would have the ability to mount other optics, but certainly not a show stopper for me. It does fit in a std Bladetech G17 holster, tho the Zev is slightly fatter so you need to adjust a bit if you ever plan to use the same holster for a glock and the zev.

Overall, I quite like the OZ9. It's now my main Production Optics gun (I suppose it could be POL) and the added weight makes it a decent practise substitute when I don't feel like making 9 major rounds for my open gun. It eats pretty much everything I've thrown at it.

The Holosun 507 & 508 series fit, and they fit very tight, which is good. Love the circle dot reticle. For IPSC, I was able to use a Glock insert for the DAA holster, it has a little play, since the bottom part of the trigger guard on the ZEV is thinner, but it's still completely secure and I'm not worried about it falling out at all.

Still enjoying my OZ9 as well. But thanks to you all my bank account just got lighter, again. Zev fulcrum trigger, Shorty grip and 5 g19 mags on the way.

Any recommendations for running a compensator? I have the Zev v2 and am still trying to tune it (wolf springs) to run properly with 124gr ammo. Sometimes just not enough bang for ejection.

I know the feeling. Every time I come back to this thread all I see is $$$$$$. I have been looking at Holosun 507c or the 508T as my next purchase. Now I have to re-think due to the recommendations of the Zev Fulcrum trigger. Thank you to all my Zev friends out there.

Just gotta try different springs and see what works.
I just got lucky I guess because I just set up my Gen3 G19 to run a ZEV V2 comp on it, I was able to find and import the ZEV V2 comp in the metric thread size to mount onto the stock GLOCK threaded barrel
I did a little research beforehand and read I may need to tune it with a different recoil spring to function properly with the comp. So I bought a Wolff springs G19 recoil tuning kit with a few different spring weights in it (14,15,16,17lb), but I went to the range with the OEM spring weight installed and I shot both 124 and 147gr factory ammo without any problems. I believe my OEM spring weight is 18lb

Find out what spring you have in there and try the next lightest weight spring and see if it changes anything

If you are shooting factory I would go 115gr with a comp, they have a bit more powder that will work the comp better.

Roger that I was told the same thing. I just was informed that my Zev Pro V2 comp has been mailed. I did order a Zev 13 lb captive spring as per their website recommendation just in case I am having issues with the stock one. I will keep you posted.

Just a quick update. I received my package of goodies from Black Box Customs. The Zev shorty grip makes a world of difference for me. The retaining pin for the mag well was a bit of pain to remove from the standard grip. Ended up using a small punch and few light taps from a hammer. I used a little bit of gun oil to re-insert it into the shorty grip. I also tried the Zev Pro V2 compensator at the range today. It is super easy to install and remove. I ran 150 rounds of Federal 115 grain aluminum with zero issues. The gun cycled and ran like a top with the stock recoil 17 lb captured spring. There is a definite difference in felt recoil not that there was a lot to begin with. The compensator also assisted with muzzle rise again this is an extremely flat shooting gun to begin with. I did purchase a 13 lb spring just in case there was an issue. My next purchase will be an optic either the Holosun 507c or 508T so that extra weight may cause a failure so the spring may still come in handy. I highly recommend the shorty grip and the Zev Pro V2 compensator.

This thread is really got me researching oz9. It has all the upgrades most would get. It doesn't hurt that it's a pretty sweet looking pistol.

I tried out a glock many years ago. Not a fan of trigger and grip but i didn't give it a real chance before I moved onto p226 and hammer fired guns. I wanted to try out glock again but the oz9 modularity is a big plus with the grip and trigger upgrades. I mostly only shoot hammer fired guns and I've always had issues with striker fired pistols. My p320x5 with apex trigger is good but still trying to master the trigger

I bought a p80 lower and wanted to start a build. With the build I want. I will be around the 1500 mark so paying a bit more and getting oz9, seems the way to go with the deal going on. I can always build p80 afterwards.

I usually buy used of EE in case, i don't like the gun. That way i dont take a big loss on EE but doesn't look like there has been any oz9 on EE.

Its a long shot but anyone have one locally that live near Cambridge that I could try out? I have a beretta 92x performance, m9a3, p320x5 w/romeo and les baer that you maybe interested in trying out yourself?

Unfortunately I am about 2.5 hours from you. I was in the same boat as you unable to actual handle one prior to purchasing. The Zev has a 1911 grip angle but just feels so much better. Have a look at Millbrook Tactical website as they are the distributer and service center for Zev. They are fantastic to deal with and their sale is still ongoing. If you have questions let me know. Good luck on your decision.

Are the slide parts the higher tier of parts? Does it have the Skeleton firing pin?

The website states 4.5lb trigger... I thought it was closer to 3lbs? Or is that just the fulcrum trigger upgrade

Yes you are correct. The ZevOZ9 has the higher tier of parts including the Skeleton firing pin. In regards to the trigger I measured weight at the range when I first received it and it was consistently pulling between 4.34 to 4.63 lbs. I have 600 rounds through it and its now in the 3.55 to 3.87 which is perfect for me. From what I have read from my fellow Zev owners they swear by the fulcrum trigger. I have not had the pleasure of trying the fulcrum trigger yet as I really like the factory set up. Have a look at post #20. The OP gives a great overview. Its one of the best shooters right out of the box in my opinion.

I am really hyped up for this pistol. I keep saying this is my last expensive pistol.....I never stay true to those words. Lol. God Damn it.

I found one used with barely any usage for $1600 privately. Only down side is that its not the threaded version and bronze.

I really like the threaded so I can try out a comp. I don't care for bronze but color I can live with. Its just threaded be nice option but the price is hard to beat.

I think I'll buy it. I'll see if I can trade the barrel for the threaded version. Its long shot but its worth a try. Some people like a cleaner look without the extra barrel sticking out especially if they don't plan to put a comp on.

**Anyone have ZEV Match Grade Threaded Barrel barrel they want to swap for the bronze zev match barrel? Lol. Any color is fine.

For 1600.00 that a great deal. I have the threaded bronze barrel as I wanted a little colour on this gun. The bronze barrel version also comes with the ZEV Pro Flat Face Trigger in black/red.

Just got back from the range overall pretty happy with the OZ9. Shoots flat, accurate and a breeze to clean after with the modularity.
