Hello, i've been looking for a while for a zev tech slide for a glock 17 gen 4. They seem to be rare as hell...

I know armtac and crafm mostly sell zev tech parts but they dont have slides in stock.

Any shop around that has zev tech slides in stock ?

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply I will email them. Pretty sure they don't have zev's slide in stock tho i emailed them 2 weeks ago... :(

I have 2 fully ZEV'd out glocks with dragonfly slides. I ordered them direct from zev in California, both had to be made to order. They do not make all models, colors, type of cuts for stock. There are just too many options, so a lot of them have to be made to order like mine. And there is a wait, took about 2 months for them to get to my order.

I used an importer to get them to me in Canada

I doubt you will find a slide in stock in Canada. I looked everywhere and ended up buying direct from Zev because of that. The nice thing is you don't see very many glocks like mine in person because they are hard to get.
Arm tac has some parts, I bough the new style barrel from them a few months ago but again I don't think they have slides

First of all both your glocks look REALLY GOOD ! I have couple questions for you:

What's the barrel on the lower glock ?

How/Where did you get the grip job done ?

What do you mean by : ''I used an importer to get them to me in Canada''. As in you asked a local dealer to have it shipped to their office or something ?

Thanks for your reply !

It is a ZEV moddiffied barrel, ZEV now makes their own barrels. Back when I bought those they were using KKM Precision barrels and further modifying them. The standard replacement Glock barrel they make is too short to be legal for Canada, that is why you see mostly everyone has the threaded barrel Glock 19's here in Canada because the standard length is too short. So what I did was contact KKM Precision, had them make me a custom length 106mm long Glock 19 barrel, it was stainless steel and blank with no markings or engraving. They then shipped that to ZEV in Cali, and I had ZEV further modify it by engraving their logo on the side and top, I had the barrel fluted to match the port on the top, and then coat in a camelion color.

The frames were also moddified by ZEV in Cali, I had both frames double undercut, 50% back strap reduction, and light silicone carbide grip added

Zev is not able to export firearms or firearm parts themselfs anymore, back when I first started ordered they would do up to $500 value in parts, and would mail them directly to me. However the laws changed and they are now not able to ship anything to Canada without using an Exporter/Importer. So what you have to do is use a FFL exporter/importer, you buy your stuff from ZEV, ZEV ships it to the exporter of your choice, you pay their fees and with till their next export and then you get your stuff in Canada

Your best bet if you want to get one easily and without an export/import cost, is to try CTC supplies, they are a Ranier Arms dealer, and have a program now where you can order anything fron Ranier Arms and get it on a flat $30 import fee. You just have to wait for their monthly export/import. And they just started carrying Zev slides! Although it might even out, because I just looked and they list the slides alot more expensive then ZEV charged me directly from them

The gen 4 slides are four months away according to an email from zev.

If your spending the money on a slide convert to Gen3 spring setup, it allows you more options to tune your gun with a different recoil spring weight wihtout having to buy expensive gen4 dual springs.

All my Glocks I run the Gen 3 spring, not matter if its a Gen3/4 frame, this is the way ZEV told me to go also....They do not build guns using Gen4 springs, they do not believe it is better then Gen 3, so they ditch Gen4 for Gen3 spring and rods. I run a SS guiderod, and depending on the ammo I have 2 different springs, and the gun functions very differently with different spring in it

My 17 in the pictures is a Gen4, with a Gen3 slide, and guide rod/spring. Even before I got the slide, I got ZEV's adapter for the stock slide to run the Gen3 spring setup, again even with the stock slide I preferred the Gen 3 spring setup

Would you be Able to post some more pictures? I'm curious about how the slide fits on the frame, is there a large gap at the front?

If the gen 3 is the way to go it looks like I have some parts to order!

Gap? The only real difference in fitment between a Gen3 and Gen4 slide is the size of the hole at the front of the slide for the guide rod. Everything else about them is the same. Fit is same, internal parts are same, barrels are same, you just use the gen 3 rod and springs instead of gen4

Zev does not believe in the dual spring on gen 4, they recommend converting gen 4 to gen 3 guide rods/spring. That is what they believe is the better setup, and I took their advice

Im sure they will eventually make gen4 slides for people that must have a gen4 slide, but that is not what they told me is the better setup

I wanted the best setup they offer, so when they said that was to covert to gen3 thats what I did....This also allows me to change my recoil spring easily, for different ammo and when the spring wears out, I just replace the spring which is cheaper. I have already worn out one spring in a year of shooting

To be honest I dont think I would buy a gen 4 again, Id probably stick with gen 3's from now on. Im not using any gen4 rods/spring that came with them, and I dont use any of the adjustable back straps either. Nice they came with 3 mags instead of 2 but other then that......Even my gen 4 17 that is using the stock Glock gen4 slide, I run an adapter to run a gen 3 spring/rod
