Looking for reviews/feedback on using ZOLEO Satellite communicators in remote areas while hunting.

Does the "person to person" text function via cell phone with ZOLEO app work well?

Are there better communicators for the price? ($270)

Thanks in advance.

I've had mine a few seasons, really only use it for one trip a year when I am out of range and completely off grid. It works well and I really like the function and compatibility with the phone.
I turn it on when back at camp and quickly know if I have a message waiting. All messages have gone thru and received. Also nice to get daily weather report.
I pay the 5 bucks a month to keep my account, current email address and phone number active, then get the service for the month during my trip.
Only comparison is the the spot and it sucked real bad.

I bought one recently. I spend a lot of time traveling to remote areas for work and also lots of time in the bush I'm the fall. Messaged home a few times this week and it worked great but forgot to tell my wife my zoleo number and she had no idea it was me. The app is easy to use and the weather function works well. It won't work without your phone other than the sos feature. I like it better than. The garmin inreach that I replaced with it.

There is a limit on text and email size but if your wife downloads the app you can send way longer messages.

I use one at work all the time . They work great. Like others have said if you and the person you are texting both have the app it is easy and simple. We got rid of our garmins at worked and switched them all out to the Zoleo. If it's for a camp or semi permanent place where you have power starlink with wifi is the better choice. For hiking or remote locations with no constant power Zoleo is my go too.

I use one for work. There is probably 6-8 of us that have them because we work remote and solo a lot.
I think they are great. Very easy to use and the battery last a long time. Unless you are texting all day on it.
I get a week out of a charge. With a couple messages a day.

I have one and love it. Much better than my old Spot and the additional two way messaging is nice. I get by with the baseline package, 25 or so messages. Just enough for my to text my wife at the end of the day to let her know I'm still alive.

I got a inreach mini II and love it, after reading about spotty reception on the zoleo i spent the extra dollars. Also the inreach is full stand alone everything including "track back" feature. ( gives you a map to follow back to where you turned the inreach on)

inreach and zoleo both use Iridium so the reception should be the same. Spot uses the Globalstar and its crap.

I went with the Inreach Mini 2 because it's stand alone as well. Although the 'Inreach to Inreach' messaging hasn't been 100% reliable, (maybe Zoleo performs better that way?) everything else has been. Pretty happy with it overall.

^ as a " save my ass button" nope. As a replacement for your cellphone and gps in the bush, maybe. I have no desire for that function on my own time.

You guys remember the first generation of spots? Good times standing wherever the helicopter landed and holding them up to the sky. We've come a long way baby
