So, boys and girls, the wait is almost over! The first annual U.N.D.E.A.D. Zombie action shoot will be held this Saturday, August 1st at the Genessee range. We will be getting going around 8 am or so, and will run until the afternoon, depending on turnout. Shoot is first come, first served. Those waiting for their turn are strongly encouraged to heckle those who are currently shooting! Without revealing too much info, the first stage will be shot with an AR, the second stage will be shot with a handgun while carrying a baby (doll, of course, my wife won't let me use the real one). All weapons and ammo are provided and included in the price. Price for members of Canadian Historical Arms Society is $10, $15 for non-members, which includes the insurance fee. Your cost will get you a round on the range with our zombies (it's cheap labour, we don't pay the zombies, no civil rights!), lunch, and a commemorative patch. If things are slow, you may pay another time to shoot again, I guess . . .
Bring your hearing protection and eye protection, everything else we provide. Oh, by the way, did I mention you have to be moving the entire time??? Bring friends, even if they have never fired a gun before (we someone to feed the zombies, otherwise they get all grouchy). Some things to leave home: your own guns (for this shoot, anyway), anyone that thinks zombies have rights, a bad attitude, too much competitiveness, and maybe vegans . . .unless they like guns, of course.

Can you put up some directions to the range please? I have never been there and don't want to wander around lost and miss the fun.:)

JUst to clear afew things up.....the shoot will begin at 9am not 8am

as to getting there

driving west on the yellowhead, you'll turn left on to 770 heading towards Genesee powerplant...you'll travel about 35 K's..once you cross the river you'll start up a curving part of the road going up hill..at the top of the curve on your right, you'll turn. You'll see the Genesee range sign(its small but its there).follow the signs to the range and there ya go
Hope that helps

What a freakin HOOT!!!!!!!
Hell, I would have gone again,...and again if I could. Also the added "surprise" to carry. Cant wait til the next one comes up.

GunPlumber said they were open to suggestions?..

1) have boxes with fresh targets at each target stand ready be stapled up.

2) I know this sounds crazy, but if you had a spare rifle back at orientation it would cut down on the time lost waiting for the rifle to get back to the stand after the shooting run by a competitor.

All in all...it was great...a lot of thought went into it and great patience was shown by the guys running it.

Good show guys.

Hey, Rick, thanks for the update and also the suggestions. As a matter of fact, the second rifle for orientation was always planned, but we had some trouble with its owner showing up really, really late . . . We definitely will be doing this again, and the idea of extra targets will certainly be considered, I think it is good. We tried to keep things as bare-bones as possible this time, just to make sure it got done. We could use some help next year . . . (hint, hint)

thanks to all that came out and had fun. Myself and the others that set it up were more then happy with the turn out, and the next zombiefests we have will keep improving everytime with the feed back we are given.

As noted the second AR finally did show hope late in the afternoon..whippings will be handed out for that

Did Rienhard and the german couple and daughter end up shooting that match as well?

He was a really really interesting guy to talk to. He came over to the long range and was chatting it up with us while you guys were shooting.

Well crap. I didnt even notice this post. Noticed the one after it which brought me to this one. Would have been a good chance to check out that range too.

Hey Woodchopper, I might be tapping you on the shoulder very soon. We have been asked to do a second Zombie shoot this Fall, since the first one went so well. We do need some extra people, at least 1. I ended up scoring all the shooters, which requires walking the whole course, and that gets painful! Anyway, I should be posting something to check for interest pretty soon.
