234 Wildcat Family....ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

I was staying out of this, but you are so right. And of the cats you suggest, a lynx would be my hands down choice, as it represents northern Canada better than any of the others.
From the earliest Hudson's Bay posts in the north, the lynx was a principal fur, with its numbers governed completely by the rise and fall of the cycles of the snowshoe hare.

If it's a .250 parent case, it should be something SAVAGE, like .23 COUGAR!!!!!

We'll put a man on that. You should have your reply by 1 Jan 2018..............or you could READ the thread................

I was thinking of helping with the load development of that round being as there haven't been any/many interested in that particular case. Thanks for your constructive input though.

You guys having fun?

Sorry guys I've been laid up all day, tweaked my back somehow and have been nursing it all day with a heating pad on the couch.
Svehn.......glad to see some interest in the smallest member of the family, this donor will probably be one of the easiest to procure as God knows there's a million 223s out there, just itching to be rebarrelled.......or 204s.

d4dave1.......all but the 23-204 could be made on a short or long action from any caliber/cartridge with a standard .473 boltface, the 23-250 and 23-243 would be better on a short action while the 234 Penguin and 23-284 may benefit from a longer action.

I will be making these barrels and rifles for any who wish to have them but not likely for 6 mos to a year........Bolt actions are no problem and I doubt leverguns will be an issue, but BARs may be beyond my expertise, I'd have to take a good look at one, I never have.

H4831, if you think the 23-250 should be called the 234 Lynx.........then so be it......It is decreed that from hence forward the cartridge consisting of a .234 bullet stuffed into a 250 Savage case shall be known as a 234 Lynx............or what's your preference H, 23 Lynx, 230 Lynx or 234 Lynx?

So.......23 Pipsqueak, 234 Lynx, 23 Penguin

I think I should take some recognition, I like the 230 Douglas for the 23-284............all in favor say AYE........

So that only leaves the 23-243 with out an official name.........23-08 comes to mind immediately. However that lacks panache.......

.234 Lynx is a good, strong, regionally oriented name... I like it.

The .23-08 is a step up from the .23-250, as the puma is a step up from the lynx...

;)

.234 Wallaby...... would proberly be a Ripper Kangaroo and Wallaby round.. :)

.234 Rufus
.234 Rock Wallaby
.234 Big Red
.234 Eastern Grey
