I like cleaning my guns. It's the only excuse I have, when my wife walks in on me drinking beer, caressing a gun while I mutter sweet nothings into the magwell...
"Oh you like that, don't you? You're a dirty, dirty gun, that likes to bang. What's that? You wish your selector could go all the way? Me too, baby..."
-Nothing dear! Be done in a minute, just cleaning!

Hey guys. So I just want to no if I am being over cautious? I have no problem paying extra to run decent ammo through my AR(or other black rifles), I guess I just like having performance and reliability. I always stick to PMC X-Tac Green Tip 62gr, American Eagle XM855 62gr, Sellier & Bellot Match rounds, and Federal. I promised myself I will never run that Norinco "stuff", heard a few horror stories from people using that ammo. Anyways just thought I'd see what everyone's opinion is on this...
Thanks.

When I'm not trolling, or offering good advice, I try to create laughter. Too many sour pusses here, dragging the rest of us down. I plan on smiling as long as I'm breathing.
Do you really think that's a responsible position to take? When all of the anti-gun people who use CGN as a resource see you joking and having fun, they'll all be able to use that as proof hat firearms owners are irresponsible, maybe even perverted. After all, how old was that gun you were talking too? - Just as I thought, waaaaaay underage, so before you get your jollies by being jolly think about the harm that does to firearms community. Honestly, you're worse than one of those "weapon" guys.
We had 8 guys shoot between 25,000- 30,000 rnds of Norinco on the PMCC at Agoge last September. Had no catastrophic malfunctions, no misfires, squibs or fractured cases.
Guys were shooting it from some high end AR's, a HK416 upper, etc.
This was all in a pretty harsh firing schedule too.
Don't start trying to inject logic into a clearly emotional debate. We don't want it, and we don't need it. If you want to bring actual first hand experience, of a statistically significant nature to the site, you will not be popular here. Tell us a story about a guy you read about, that may or may not have had a mechanical issue, that may or may not have been related to ammo, that may or may not have been Norinco. Throw in a few derogatory comments about their culture, politics, education, and work ethic, and we should have everything we need.

She he told me she was 18.....I swear she did.
It definitely wasn't her first...the magwell was pretty flared and scratched up....

That would be a decent weekend.
In reality what you are saying supports the idea that some cases of Norinco 5.56mm are decent ammo and some are a waste of time and money. It seems to be a gamble and consumers need to know it is a gamble.
All I know is that in the last 12 months I have seen more problems with Norinco 5.56mm than I have seen in decades with all other ammunition combined.
Good to know Hilo71...Thanks for that.
Last fall it was hard to find Federal AE that I normaly use...Jo Brook had no AE but had the spam can crates on for $299...I passed, walked out the door did the rest of my running around town...Couple hours later ready for the 3.5 hour drive back to the farm suddenly said @#$% It...Spam can ammo gotta be better then going short!
Next day opened that dirty tin can up and...
5.56mm Ball 08 P.R CHINA
LOT 33
MFR.DATE DEC 1995
When I read what was in those smelly white boxes I really had a hard time bringing myself to try it.
Endes up out a 16 inch barrel the china ammo averages 3100fps and groups around 2 inch...Never had a miss fire or any other trouble at all so far.
Federal AE average 2840fps and group around 1.5 inch out the same rifle also trouble free.
I pulled a few bullets from the Federal and China ammo and found the bullet wieghts to be very consistent with both.
The empty china brass vary in wieght by as much as 4 grains, the AE by around 1 grain...For comparison the other day I started a fresh batch of 50 Remington 7mm Rem mag brass and they are within 1 grain with most of them being within .5 grain in wieght...North American brass is far more consistent in wieght.
What I have surprisingly discovered so far is that this China ammo is not cheap in the sense of being of poor quality...Rather it is very inexpensive for how reliable it is...Also when you consider the extra 260fps it delivers to the gong it is actually a superior round to the Federal AE at realistic .223 ranges.
I'm sure hoping I can find some more of this particular lot of ammo.
That would be a decent weekend.
