hi, just purchased a used JR 45 acp, after firing a few rounds I need some ideas what is going on, first I get the odd Jamb when it feeds maybe 1 in 5 rounds, the bigger issue is after loading the mag in the rifle, get a round in the chamber and fire, shell ejects but the next round is in chamber but the gun is not cocked, cycling the bolt causes a jamb with the second and third bullet, ejection does not seem smooth with a unfired round.

took the back off and noticed the recoil spring is flat one end and just cut the other, squared it off but no improvement, also noted the ejected shell has heavy powder residue on outside of casing

I believe the bolt is not fully cycling because the gun is not cocked, I can create this manually dry cycling, my guess is its short by 1/8 inch.

I am leaning towards the spring is too soft or was cut down to fix the issue and is allowing the bolt to retract too early hence the heavy powder on a spent round

going to order a new spring but anything else that may need addressing

thanks in advance

My JR 9mm was FTE and having some loading issues at first too.
I struggled with the first 100-200 rounds (one range day) with at least one problem per mag.

After disassembly, cleaning and some G96 it is working perfectly now...I still get the occasional FTE at the last round but all in all it is loosening up and shooting really great groups.

Edit: make sure the buffer spring and that white plastic end stop in the aft part of the tube are aligned properly when you reassemble.
I had my spring cocked at an angle and not aligned to the white plastic stop correctly (from the factory I think). Since fixing that loading and ejecting seemed better.

thanks, the gun is used so not sure history, the spring is or appears to have been cut one end because its not square, did not see a plastic disc in the rear tube I will take it apart again and see, feeding there seems to be a fix with the mag, the cycling is defiantly a issue with bolt not retracting enough

Just call Tom at JRC, he will help you out.

My JRC .45 has improved a lot since new, after shooting a few hundred round through her. Now, the first two mags when the rifle is clean shoots flawlessly, but as the chamber gets dirty, I start to experience some feeding issues again. Tom asked me to cut the buffer spring by 5 coils...he sounds confident that this would help. If it doesn't, I guess he'll need to send me a new one...lol.

I had an issue with a .40 JR, an older one I bought used, firing, loading a new round, but the trigger being dead/not cocked.
Called JR up and they sent me new trigger group parts free of charge.

Never got to test it out yet, but their customer service is great.

that's similar, fires the round and the trigger is not cocked like the bolt did not come far enough back to #### the firing pin. got a spring on order maybe I will call them for recommendations

For what it's worth, I got my jr out for 30rds today, the first time I shot it with the new trigger group parts that JR sent me.
The only FTF, was a click without a bang. So the issue seems resolved so far.

worked with JR and they have great customer service, after a couple days and making adjustments it fires decent, they are sending out new parts and prety sure it will work fine after switching out, main issue is the disconnect was not catching for the next round,

Had a 9mm JR, it had extractor issues. The more I shot it, the worse it got. Never did figure it out. Ran like a champ for 300 rounds when I first got it.

They will send you a new trigger group, this is a know issue with some of the earlier ones.

^^^ This. I thought mine was a lemon when I first got it. Then I thoroughly cleaned and lubed it up liberally. I found it likes to run wet and there have been no issues. I find it gets dirty quickly and needs a cleaning more than other rifles I own. When clean and properly lubed, it runs flawless. If it's dirty or not well lubed - it runs horribly.

OP may have a physical problem, but I bet if he cleans it properly and lubes everything so the bolt travels with little friction - the problem will go away.
