In the event of a catastrophic failure with T97?

I have a solution to save your face:

That's a great picture of you! Who's the photographer?

RFB - I felt safe because of the massive amounts of metal between my face and the chamber.

On my FS2000.... I have NO idea where that force would go if I had a kB... my cheek is touching the little toilet seat cover, so hoping the blast doesn't go UP! :)

I think the design of the T97 should take a potential kB into account... not sure how, but I trust the Chinese to design it properly. ;)

PLA Squad Leader's Manual:
In the event that one of your riflemen should experience an out-of-battery discharge, remove the detritus and file a a Form 63B with your superior officer to receive a new rifleman.

I have never heard of the rfb or t97 going kaboom, but I did read 2 story about a fs2000 blowing up.

The barrel/chamber is plastic?

Thoughts? Yeah, but I should keep them to myself.

Please sell all your guns and leave.

Ever heard of an out of battery discharge? You know, where the round isn't properly in the chamber? Hence nothing but plastic guarding your face.

My t97 never misfeeds. There are no reports of bullets getting punched in by impacting the magwell. It isn't possible that a mangled round could wedge partway in chamber and then detonate. A punched in bullet could never result in a squib round and squib rounds never cause guns to blow up.

Really, what could go wrong?

The is actually about a 1.5" long section of the steel receiver on the left hand side that reduces the damage of such a detonation. As such, the majority of the force would be blasted out the right side and down through the magazine well.

That's called blissful ignorance.

This is what can actually happen with a plastic receiver:

Hmm.. if this was a T97, where would your face be?

Ahhh.

Well I've personally watched a case seperation happen in a T97 shooting Norc 5.56, where only half the spent casing gets tore out and a fresh round gets forced down into the brass remaining in the chamber.

Good news is that when the bolt didn't seat, the firing pin didn't drop. Hurrah for proper safety design!

But if that particular click had been a bang we would have found out first hand what happens.

if i had a t97 id wear a motorcycle helmet when shooting it, maybe thats why they have such crappy sights so you give up and hip fire instead. i really dont think these things should be in canada or anywhere for that . what are you going to do sue norinco, is batman going to go there and get the ceo back here for trial lol.

Hey, lets see a show of hands!

People who own the Type 97nsr? (-several thousand people put their hands up.)

People who have had a Kaboom, or catastrophic failure? (crickets...)

People who have had anything break?

People who have had any function issues not mag related?

Hmm. I'll take my chances.
Here's one for some of you: To make the Vz-58 legal in Canada, the safety features to prevent an out of battery detonation were removed, as they were part of the full auto design. The parts removed were CRITICAL to the design, and safety of the rifle. Do some investigation. Having said that, how many kabooms have you heard of with that rifle?

LOL - there are 3 million preppers in the US, maybe the same percentage here. Many of them are preparing for something that has an infinitesimal chance of happening. I saw a show of a guy who moved his entire family to Tennessee because he thought there was a strong possibility of a polar shift without understanding any of the science of what causes a polar shift (hint: continental drift).

In other words: people just want to be safe. You wouldn't drive a car that has a tendency for the brakes to fail or catch on fire, why shoot a gun with explosions right by your face protected by a piece of plastic? Because it's cheap?

Well.. I suppose that's a reason.

Lol seriously. Everyone pitch in 5 bucks, get a trustworthy member to buy the gun. Jam something in the bore and shoot it with a string.

Put a watermelon up to the left side of the gun where your head would be and you got my five bucks. Heck, twenty bucks if it is well filmed.

I am in!
