Well, I guess I got lucky with mine.
I recently got a 4x12x40 AO Scorpion Copperhead, and while its not as nice as a Leupold, its much cheaper. The finish isn't quite up to even the standard of the nicer Redfield scopes, but its close. The glass is as clear as the similar cost Vortex ones, and very very close to the Redfield ones too. And the reticle is much finer than both of those by a good margin. I played around with 6 or 7 scopes at my local store here recently and they let me take them all outside for a while too, so I was looking at different real life objects at different ranges.
the turrets click just fine for me. not sloppy, but not overly stiff. I would prefer a little but more smoothness in it, but its not in any way bad for the price point.
It has all the things I wanted too. Some scopes I looked at didn't have adjustable objective, or the little focus on the eyepiece. And all of the scopes in this price range or less, had thick reticles on them. thick enough to fully cover a .22lr hole at 50m.
not sure how it will stand up to magnum rifle calibers, but I am not using it for that. No, I wouldn't take it to war, but again, not using it for that.
everyone #####es about Chinese stuff, but they buy tons of Norinco rifles, pistols and shotguns. And tons of people buy Vortex, Lucid and other made in China optics. I figured I'd give it a try and so far I am impressed.
