Defense ammunition - .45ACP?

I thought about this a while ago, but decided against it. a 45 has more than enough stopping power behind it without being a hollow point and you have a lot less explaining to do if you shoot somebody with a target round. I just reload with round nose TMJ plated.
 
ATRS used to stock Speer Gold Dot ammo, give them a call and see if they still carry it. If you can live with commercially reloaded ammo Custom Reloaders in BC reload a number of calibres with the Gold Dot bullets. I have some of their 9mm Gold Dot reloads and they shoot very well in my G19 for about 40% the cost of Speer Gold Dot ammo.

I second Custom Reloading Service in BC. Also, SFRC usually has stuff.
 
I'm sorry, but this comment is daft as if gets.

Less explaining to do after shooting someone with ball ammo vs HP? You're joking, right? You're screwed either way, bud.

And ball ammunition is likely to over penetrate and poses a risk to family and neighbors. Sure, ball will put a hurt on someone, but if the object is to stop a threat, why wouldn't you want the absolute best in a life and death situation?

Yes, if someone is breaking into your house carrying a big knife and a baseball bat... just put the gun down and do what the nice man tells you to.

So if you shouldn't shoot anyone with a firearm, what should you shoot them with? Crossbow?

Now there needs to be semiautomatic military-style assault crossbows with suppressed flight grooves, shoulder things that go up, high capacity toploading magazines, uber-deadly armour piercing incendiary broadheads and cocking stirrups that are easily convertible to full auto so the bow user can be persecuted to the level of firearms owners.

EDIT: Nah... on second thought, I'll stick with the finger gun!

Um. Back to .45 defense ammo, I guess. Sorry for the derail. lol
 
i collect plus p defensive ammo in .45 i have about 10 different boxes from zombie max to golden sabers to some weird stuff i bought today hydra shok, critical duty you name it , hornandy tap if i c it i buy it and store it away. i shop evrywhere online and all local stores in bc. i just love the pretty silver looking brass, im such an ammo junkie lol
 
It's just marketing for nickel plated cases. It's no different than any other 185 grain ammo. Except it has a scary brand name.
You shoot somebody with anything, target ammo or not, and you'll be in jail. And 'stopping power' is a myth.
