Haha nice. I hate people using the word and not understanding it's meaning.I didn't know short barreled AR's have a lack of knowledge to the sound they make.

If you dont give a #### about anyone other than yourself, throw a brake on there and have at er!
If you want to avoid being a douche, just use a standard a2 FH.
We have separate pistol and rifle ranges at both the ranges where I am a member.Youre no doubt the same type that rides a harley with straight pipes. Let me know next time you try and work on pistol accuracy while the guy in the next lane fires an sbr with a brake on it 4 feet from your head. Its a massive concussion and its highly irritating. Either you are considerste of the guy on either side of you or youre not.
Find an empty range maybe. Yeah i think brakes at a range are for douches.
I really thought this thread was going to be about peep sights on an AR-15.

I've had several of the pros at our club including an IPSC grandmaster shoot the rifle comparing 3 similar brakes and all 4 of us came to the same conclusions as to which brake had the least climb, the most climb, and even one with negative climb.^
That's pretty accurate.
The OP asked about which MD would be less annoying. I'm not trying to say that we should ban brakes on the range, only that if you don't want to be annoying, don't use one. He's concerned about not being a jackass. Those that want to be annoying as hell - have at er. Just know that you are pissing off people around you.
We're talking about muzzle climb on a .223 here, the recoil/climb is pretty much non-existent anyways (in semi-auto). If you want to be tactical, you'd keep your rifle quieter as opposed to 5X as loud. It's a mall ninja accessory IMO.

Muzzle climb on a 223 is better controlled with proper hold than it is with a brake.
Let's not confuse ourselves.
"A flash suppressor mixes air with muzzle gases to reduce muzzle flash.
A brake has surfaces which deflect muzzle gases backward to reduce felt recoil.
A compensator has surfaces which deflect muzzle gases upward to reduce muzzle flip.
Many muzzle devices combine several of those functions.
An A1 "birdcage" flash suppressor is just a flash suppressor.
An A2 "half birdcage" flash suppressor is a flash suppressor combined with a compensator.
An AK74 muzzle device combines brake and compensator, but does not reduce flash."
etc."
What is needed and most logical is a sound suppressor/silencer but we can't have these for some nonsensical reason ...
