Blackout chamber out of spec?

The crimp die and expander arrived today, my .311 cast feed and cycle with out issues.

Ordered expander die and crimp from amazon.ca on sunday and they arrived this morning.

Well I finally got my issue figured out. It seems that my Hornady full length sizing die wasn't setting the shoulder back far enough. Some brands of brass just worked and some didn't. Many I would need to use the FA to chamber them. The die was used in in a Hornady press and shell plate so the die could very well have been out of spec.

Long story short I ground about 20 thou off the bottom of the sizing die so I could screw it in further.

The polygonal rifling in the NEA barrel seems to work well with cast. A NOE 200gr cast bullet with 10.5gr of 2400 grouped about 3-4" at 100yrds. Good enough for what I use if for.

Thanks for all the input.

Good to hear you got it up and running. Did you end up picking up a brass catcher? Chasing those precious 300BLK cases around the range gets old fast! lol

Yup I picked up a cadwell brass catcher. It works good. I now use it for all my semi auto rifles. Makes shooting much more enjoyable, not having to go around picking up brass

For those interested, here is a list of .223 brass by head stamp and the thickness of the brass at the neck when cut down to 300blk length. Saves a bunch of grief when you know what brands will work and what will not.

R - P: 0.012"
IVI(5.56x45): 0.015
PMP: 0.015
PPU(5.56x45): 0.0145
FC: 0.012
PSD: 0.013
Winchester: 0.012
PPU: 0.015

0.012" is ideal. Especially when you have a tight chamber. Any that are 0.015 wont chamber at all.

Well I sure lucked out and picked the right brand:)
I've converted all my R-P brass to 300BLK, have about 750 in circulation now. I'm up to 4x loaded on a few batches and it still looks great.
