Press Check do you do it ?

Just picked up a few real beo mags off the EE... they fit 15 rounds no problem and feed perfect. however, I feel the quality is on the low side. They feel way too light and the follower is ROUGH. Im going to see if a magpul follower will fit. Other than that, their performance is nothing to complain about.

I have a few of the beo mags and was going to change out the follower as well and repin them but when i asked about it everyone on here was saying it would be manufacture of a prohib device unless you actually own a beo .50 or something to that effect. So i didnt do it even though i suspect it would clear up my jambs on those mags.

IBFTL. butt...
I use the gen 2 at the range u=yesterday with a buddy. had the same issue.
If fact I think I broke one of his mags after trying to seat it in an NEA lower 10times.
they seem to really exspand, has to pull them out with both hands on my dlask/ blue line lower.
Shame really :(

I don't know why everyone keep posting IBTL. These threads aren't getting locked anymore. PCV has relabeled their mags with .50 Beowulf and from what I heard spoken with the RCMP firearms lab to make sure they are ok to sell them. CGN only locked these when they deemed it was a grey area.

I have been running PCV for a year in 3-gun with no issue. I would have gotten the ATRS but I have seen them promising stock for better part of a year with no results. PCV is in stock and available and holds 40% more rounds. 4 rounds doesn't sound like much, but 40% more does. Especially when it means I can run one less mag on my belt for every two mags.

I have 2 PCV ones.

They only feed 12 or less for me. They have to be pulled from the magwell, they don't drop free. And the bolt closes on empty.

I won't be buying any more.

I think CGN still views these as a grey area...not sure how much has changed just because PCV added "Beowulf" to their mags and you "heard" PCV had spoken to the RCMP lab.

They are alot cleaper than they were even 3 months ago. i got 2 for $225... which seems like alot, but 2 months ago guys were selling for $150 each PLUS shipping. As I said, mine seat and feed 15 perfect. I don't think the follower would change the legality of the mag. The follower is just a piece, like the spring. The mag is not modified. If that were true, putting a magpul follower in a 10 round pistol mag would be against the rules.
At the end of the day, can ANYONE point to ANY authority who would A: be in a position to be checking you for this and B: Be in any way educated enough to know or tell the difference. IMO, they are going to crap a brick when they see your mag can kill a whole flock of babies long before they call you out on a follower. Once you explain, prove, defend, demand and finally get your mags back... Im %100 sure no one will have mentioned the follower. not once.

You just have to watch the markets. When there is a dry spell and their is a demand, it drives up premiums.

I believe I am the guy you are referring to and I must say that I was only trying to recoupe some of the gougeing I have endured at others expense with these mags. The best way to reduce your cost is buy in BULK! Then skelp a few off that you don't need in order to further reduce the hemorrhaging from your wallet.

I remember when I first started looking a year ago, the best price I could find was $250 for a single 5/7 A.A. metal beo mag.

Hopefully my money has been wasted and A.A. beo mags will be further imported again soon. Better yet would be a change to the Firearms Act to allow for at the very least, normal capacity mags.

Am I missing something here?
The title of this thread is press check do you do it. What does that have to do with the difference between ATRS and AA Beowulf mags?

To join in though, I just got my first Beowulf mag and it's a legit AA mag that looks like a 30 round mag. It's fun and is one step closer to us having our mags back to their correct regular capacity but man am I going to go through ammo fast now. The cost of these things is nothing compared to the increase in ammo consumption.

A police officer who is also into guns and know about these magazines can tell the difference.

From what I've seen there are not many police officers who are in to guns and I think you would be more likely to come across an officer who thinks that rifles take 5 and handguns take 10, end of story. Most police officers would prefer if civilians were not allowed to have anything more than a bolt action rifle for target practice and hunting. Now before you jump up with the flame thrower, I'm not saying all officers are like that and I wish they all took an interest in firearms and realized that the only people that need to be kept from firearms are criminals. They could let the rest of us have full auto's, suppressors, and unlimited capacity magazines and no one anywhere would be in any more danger than they are now. Unfortunately the political agenda over the last 20 years (or more) has been conditioning society to be afraid of guns and to think that only police and military should have them.

I printed off a copy of the regulations from the RCMP website and have a copy in my range bag just in case.
Even though using a LAR pistol mag or a Beowulf mag is perfectly legal it's easier to have the documents in hand so you can show them rather than argue about it and end up in court. You would win in court but it isn't worth the hassle or the money when it's easier to carry the documents.

Keep exercising your rights but don't be ignorant if you come across an officer who isn't aware that what you are doing is perfectly legal.

So now those who could not be named can be named? Mods, can we get confirmation?

The "Plastic 50 Cal AR15 Magazines made in New Brunswick" notice is still up in the EE.
