Those are some awesome set ups you have there! How does the scope work with the irons installed? I may have to go with medium height QRWs because that's all that's available from what I've seen.
The height difference is less than 1/8" so do you think it will make much of a difference?

It's the rifle that Ruger based the 375 Alaskan on
Actually its a Brno 602, with a 20" stainless fluted Ron Smith 1:12 .375 barrel chambered for the .375 Ultra, in a McMillan stock. The quarter rib is inletted for Talley QD rings which held first the Burris 2.75X Scout and later a 2X Leupold. The front sight is a Ruger non-fluted barrel band base fitted with a brass rectangular post. The rear is a Tally ghost ring. The finger deflector behind the trigger guard became necessary due to the shape of the McMillan pistol grip. No Ruger Alaskan existed when I had this rifle built, actually Jeff Cooper's "Baby" in .460 G&A was the idea for this rifle, and I would have gone with a .458 Ultra except I got a killer deal on this barrel. Even so, when the Alaskan finally did come on the scene, you could have bought 5 of them for the cost of this one.
Just received a BNIB Ruger GSR bought over the EE. It's one of Barrett's (Arma-Coat) Nitron blackened units.
I'm beside myself with this rifle. With the short LOP available thanks to the removable spacers, it fits me to a tee. It feels lighter than the 7lbs Ruger says it weighs, probably owing to the short barrel. Coated stainless steel and laminate stock? ALL KINDS of tough. Ugly enough that I won't mind bashing around the woods with it.
I fairly stole a Timney trigger from the EE in anticipation of this gun, but the factory trigger is a pleasure; so much so that I might not even bother with the Timney.
I'm not sure I'll use the 10rd mag. Good thing it came with 2 5-rounders! It also came equipped with a Ching Sling from Andy's Leathers, for which I need to install the 3rd swivel, also included!
I really can't decide if I'm going to put a Scout scope on it, or scope it conventionally. I suspect for this season I'll mount a 1-4X24 Vortex off another rifle, and perhaps play with the Scout scope configuration through the winter and spring.
This week will tell the tale as to how it shoots with handloads.

I just got mine in this week from Prophet River. Its the full American stainless version with the 18inch barrel with flash hider. Its a sweet rifle. I have owned the Savage Scout and the Tikka Battue in the past. The Ruger Gunsite Scout has them beat. My only beef is with the steel 10rnd magazine. It makes the gun a bit bulky to store in locker with magazine installed. I will have to get a poly 5rd magazine. Cant wait to shoot it.

I pre-ordered one of the rare walnut stocked ones from Prophet River... should be here in about 5 weeks give or take... Picked up a 3 round mag and an xs full length rail for it as well...

I would have scooped one of those ones if I did t already have mine assigned. The solid wood is nice. The checkering is like velcro on the Scout stock. i have one with the arms nitron finish.. love the rifle... love the look. however... the bare stainless started to show through the nitron after 40 rounds... and after one unsuccessful hunt the barrel was covered in visible scratches and showing the factory stainless.... i will say that it was beautiful when i got it finished and returned. its just a shame that i will have to pay again to have it gun coated locally.. this is all cosmetic however and bears no effect on its performance.

heres a pic of mine... i decided to go with a conventional scopemount and i would switch to the xs rail however i dislike it covering the ejection. the stock is a ruger tupperware stock that only required minor fitting. not a drastic weight reduction, but there is some. camo is rustoleum with epoxy anti skid clear. stock pack is triad tactical. scope is nikon monarch african 1.5-4x24 illuminated.
as i said earlier while not dicernable in the photos the nitron is started to wear off and stainless is showing through is some spots. however i will say that i have been fairly hard on this rifle.

Well after getting my ruger scout I decided I wanted to make it all weather. So I purchased a ruger mkII Hawkeye stock and just finished fitting it today. I love the way it turned out and I think it will make a great rifle for wet weather conditions.
