Tavor Timney Trigger Touchdown!

A nice sporting/competition trigger will be nice for the Tavor. That being said my duty pistol is 12 pounds DAO. For $400 I think I'll suck it up and stick with my gen 1 trigger.

As for shooting off the bench. The biggest trigger related bench accuracy issue with the Tavor is when the trigger releases. Dry fire your Tavor with a front bag and scope. You can see the crosshair shutter slightly off target from the release unless the rifle is really supported. Does the new trigger pack help mitigate this? It's not a problem unless you don't know about it. But it would be nice if this issue was less abrupt if installing a new trigger pack.

Keep in mind the Tavor wasn't designed for bench shooting. When shooting off hand you support the rifle in a way that mitigates the release anyways.

Still no old trigger and new trigger comparison accuracy report with pics even though the timneys have been in town for a few weeks now.

If I Remember correctly I seen you selling a 1moa (or was it 0.5moa) Tavor for sale. How did that work and why would you sell such a shooter!?:jerkit:

Hell no, lay off the drugs.
I advertised and sold it as a 3 moa gun that had been improved to 2 moa by free floating the barrel and handloads.
I'd have kept it in a heartbeat if it was capable of 1 moa.

Actually he is right, I remember seeing your add stating MOA, must have been a typo.

If it didn't specifically say 1 moa it definitely did say moa.

You must have missed typing the #2.

I wish I hadn't deleted that post already.
It stated that the free floated barrel was good for a 1 moa improvement in accuracy. Perhaps that was where the confusion was.
The buyer was definitely made aware that it was a 2 moa rifle with hand loads.

I get consistent 1.75 moa with my tavor without it bring messed with and with the factory trigger, check my tavor ammo review thread for the proofs. I think the trigger will bring me to 1.5 if I'm lucky.

You're a better shot than me, or you've got an exceptional tavor.
I like the format you used for your accuracy testing, very thorough.

Just curious as to why you bought one in the first place? Seems all you care about is accuracy. So why not just stick to bolt actions?

I prefer gas guns.
I have many wants in a rifle, but accuracy is indeed close to the top of the list.
Sometimes I try a rifle that might have some other features that might offset the lack of excellent accuracy. I'd still own the tavor, but it just didn't fit for me right now. The nonrestricted acr is a better coyote/gopher rifle, and I'm faster in three gun with ar's... but the tavor is still a great rifle, if I could only have one firearm, it'd be in the top three I'd consider.

Out of curiosity, which modifications did you make to free float your Tavor's barrel?

Looking at the design there are quite a few spots likely to interfere with barrel harmonics. I wonder how many of those flaws you fixed.

The u shaped barrel support was modified for clearance ( the steel, not just pulling the liner).
The charging handle assembly was modified to not touch the barrel at any time.
The original tavor design did not have anything touching the barrel past the gas block, and was reportedly more accurate.
The idf dudes said about the same as a rack grade ar, personally I didn't see anything better than 2 moa with hand loads.

What are you getting, NTM?

So far I call anything that produces groups 2" or smaller a keeper. I can do it with the Nosler 77's and 69's BTHP. Pretty much everything else I've tried with the Bergers and Hornady offerings are going around 2.5".
