Hey all,
Just found a nice little gopher load that quite accurate (in my rifle anyways).
recipe:
Barnes Varmint grenades 36gr in .223
random brass
fed 205 small rifle primer
V N-135 @ 23.5 gr
OAL- 2.181~ ( i say about because I measured tip to base and there is always a tiny bit of difference in bullet tips)
It printed a nice sub moa group at 100 AND 300 yards. I shot a few gophers today and some of the shots of the day included a 120 yard shot that basically tore a massive hole from the tip of the nose to about mid back. looked like what happens to playdough when you push your hand through it.
and the next one was a 160yd shot where i had nothing but head to shoot at and I put it in the mouth and out the back. In short these bullets fair really well at all ranges i shot gophers at today. violent expansion even on smaller sized parts of the gopher.
my confirmed groups at 300 were with a steel plate painted.
Here's what kind of damage these bullets do.

not sure of velocity but with my 100yard zero i had to hold 1.2-1.3 mils hit at 300yds.
Hope some of you are able to use this, AND ALWAYS START LOW AND WORK UP!!!
Steve
