The AR-15 is made non-restricted overnight, what changes happen?

What happens to black guns in Canada?

First thing that would happen at my place is I would be buying an AR in .308 to hunt with. As noted, I will believe it when I see it. The CPC have been such weak sauce on dealing with the bureaucrats that I can't imagine they would do something this ballsy.

That would still be cheaper than the NDP's promise to resurrect the LGR

They can keep it restricted for all I care. Just get rid of the ATT system completely and say that if I'm trusted to own one that I'm also trusted to use it responsibly at and away from the range.

Once ATT's and the range only restriction are gone there is no functional difference between non-restricted and restricted aside from registration.

This seems like the mostly likely scenario to play out here....

lol in all seriousness of course no one can substantiate this. It all comes down to would you rather be informed to the level of the NFA or kept in the dark until they have something concrete. NFA likes to keep its people up to date, even if thats saying things like "The word is"

The NFA likes attention... Not unlike other media outlets, they get your attention by publishing controversial headlines. No different than the #### that the Left Wingers publish.

You are also forgetting not everyone has their rpal. Big difference. I shouldn't have to take another course just to own a rifle that is scary and black.

We just need to get rid of the ATT. We'll be able to do what we want with our restricted just like unrestricted except the fact that they are registred.

You guys are nuts. There should be no restricted firearms period.

They can register any firearms they want. But I should be able to buy any firearm i want with my pal.

I think you need to re-read the law .. restricted means "Can only be discharged at an approved range" dumping the ATT would not change the fact that you could only fire the rifle at the range .. it would just mean you don't need anyone's permission to take it there or to any other approved range.

Tossing us the " de-registered AR bone" just may get the gunnutz to shut up for a bit.. but it would only crack open a larger can of worms.. what about all those other semi auto firearms deemed prohibited for no good reason? To they get to see the light of day as well .

The AR was deemed restricted using the same logic as many other firearms were deemed prohibited, looks. of the AR gains a reprieve .. do all the others.. or does the logical dissonance remain?

AK-47, I'm looking at you. ;)

Thank you! +1

If the AR becomes non-restricted?

I'd gladly take the hit on the resale-value of my personal AR-180B, Benelli MR-1 and SU-16's.

Because freedom, that's why.

... and take it into the bush to shoot, legally!

, with big puppy dog eyes. I love you AK, perhaps one day we'll be together... and until then I'll go to Vegas and rent you by the hour, like a woman, lol ;)

I suppose they could "non restrict" the AR by name - then barrel length wouldn't enter into it. Or they could make it just another rifle, in which case we'd see a lot of C7A2 look alikes.

I would prefer non-restrict by name. That would save a lot of re-barreling. Seriously though I would just borrow someone's upper to re-register the lowers.

I would need to get me a 20" Noveske 6.8 SPC barrel or upper for hunting, a 22lr upper for plinking, 9mm upper for gophers. ;)

Forgot I would sell all my other rifles pretty much instantly even if I get 50 cents on the dollar for em

This has nothing to do with registration. I just want to own one!

Gotta remember not everyone has their rpal. And there is no reason I shouldn't be aloud to own an ar15.

Why wouldn't you just go get your RPAL then? You're being ridiculous, just go get it.
You're right, there is no reason you shouldn't own an AR. Get off your a$$ and make it happen.
