abandoned bren carrier

anyway seeing that I been watching some vids online to do with armor and this popped up
ww1 and ww2 equipment and tanks I wonder what kind of paper work would be involved to get these here

You're likely way better off buying form already established eastern european suppliers. Mortar Investments has a number of running T34-85s for sale.

yeah but I can play with and store a Renault in my backyard. a t34 would be nice and I will eventually invest in one but id like it to have a gun that will blank fire easier to rent as a movie prop that way ;) besides the ww1 stuff is small and has more history im just crazy enough to go to the middle east to get this stuff. what im supprised at is the yanks have not taken some of this stuff most of it should be in a museum

Can't argue with that, a nice little tank would be mad fun. Gunny did a Lock N' Load on tanks and ran one of the FT tanks and fired it's gun. Neat little piece of kit. He also partook in a number of other tanks too.

For a back trail fun, I would love to have a Universal carrier or a similar sized tank. But I would also love to have a Ferret armored vehicle for the more day-to-day activities. Imagine pulling to a Timmies with one of those? The thought makes me giddy.

was ferrets outside of CFB Suffield in a yard just off hiway 1 back in the `90s. closer to the base than the Hat.

and there is/was a bunch of stuff on the yellow head west of edmonton. big hand painted sign that said ARMY SURPLUS. don't know what else was in there except for a couple of possible landing craft/vehicle transports. 2009 last time i went by there. can't remember exact location, may have even been in Saskatchewan near Maidstone. anyone with eyes and knows that hiway knows where i`m talking about. there was also several junkyards along the yellow head that had deuce &1/2s, 3/4 tons and the like.
Truck Boneyard (google it) near Balgonie, SK also has a Brit issue Land Rover. there was also some stuff NW of watson, sk, but i think the Rotary club there may have scrapped all that stuff in the late `90s. if i remember more i`ll post it.

Personally I would rather have one of the RG31s that where cut up instead of coming out of Afghanistan, but the cost of moving stuff out of there is through the roof.

A member here had two Ferrets for sale awhile back. But you are right about the lottery because they were pricy and came without radio or MG. If you are overweight, crawling in and out of the Ferret hatch would be a real pain.

I think I remember seeing one for sale here. update I want to the area it was but I did not have enough time or a local with me at the time so I did not go too far in but the area is not as cleaned up as I though it was and its a good chance its till there but im doubtful

A Universal Carrier is the most numerous WWII tracked vehicle in the collecting world. Made simply on three continents (well, one continent and two islands), using adapted or recognizable automotive components. There is an active community on mapleleafup, and what can't be restored is being reproduced. For example, there is a fellow in Alberta making CNC cut armour plates, a few folks in UK making new track links, and a guy in Oz (?) rerubbering road wheels.

Be prepared to build a new garage, assemble a machine shop, invest in shop tools and make friends around the world. Be prepared to get frustrated, but in the end you will have a genuine piece of 70 yr old history and the next generation will thank you.

this one like many others was most likely made right here in Windsor ONT. I have plenty of hair to lose being a young guy I think I could restore it may just be one of those projects that you fix a little here and set it aside and build something else. now that I know about the reproduction armor though if its not there I may look for one without armor if I do not find this one for all I know it could have been cut into pieces and scraped by now :puke:

so a update I will be going back this year a little more prepared to search if found id probably have to tell a local legion or something because they be interested in saving it and would have more pull around there then me. the engine is most likely useless by now if it had any water in it as flathead v8's had a tendency to get unrepairable cracks if frozen(I can get a good flathead block no problem) I think its worth saving and im willing to save it

Well Antiqueguy you know your mission, so get cracking. And post LOTS of pictures during the long journey ahead.

You don't have to tell the Legion ####. If its privately owned, bring cash and a flatbed. It will be more appreciated and restored by you than them. They'll just weld all moving parts shut and stick it on a stone slab
