German HK45 Pistol PREORDER!

Generation of entitlement...

Oh #### right off. This is how it works in almost any industry, since quite literally the first thing was ever bought and sold.

Order food and it takes 2 hours just to show up and only half arrives? Comped

Order cabinets for your kitchen and they take twice as long as they were supposed to, and delaying your whole build? Discount.

Buy a car with X options and you arrive on the lot to pick it up and something is missing? Guess what you are probably getting for free?

I realise that firearms tends to be a different animal with crazy wait times, and there's a lot of variables outside of the retailers control, but don't be a old prick and act like it's some generational problem.

I understand your point if the person suppling you the product is also the one making it, but that is not the case here.

They are simply a vendor being a middleman and relying on someone else to supply the product.

Ever order something from Sears and have it back ordered and then get a discount? (that would the the generation thing that most of us remember shopping out of the Sears catalogue and hoping what we ordered got here on time, but never receiving a discount if it wasn't, nor expecting one)

Ever order a car part (or gun part) in and have it arrive long after the expected date and get a discount?

And it is a generalization problem, because every other generation but this one knows what it is like to order something and have to wait for it, and is not spoiled by the luxury of having most things in life "on demand" with overnight shipping from the other side of the world, and then cry foul and expect to be compensated when it is delayed beyond the control of the vendor.

Once upon a time humans live in wet caves, was eaten by bigger animals. Doubt we would tolerate that today. Doesn't make it a generation issue.

Issue back then an now is simply "Expectation Management". Expectation when we used to order from a catalog was hurry up and wait. Off the internet is next day shipping.

OP say WINTER 2013, the expectation is set. Will be Summer 2014 soon. Expectation management is failing.

Additionally this stmt with all the specific date/timeline implies the Germans runs a tight UBoat; obviously NOT.
"If you want to be on this shipment of German-made HK pistols, you will need to preorder now -- we will only be able to accept preorders for ONE WEEK! We have to stop taking preorders next weekend, as the order list must be finalized for submission to HK. We do not know when any future production runs will be scheduled for the Canadian market as HK schedules their productions 7-10 months in advance... this is the ONLY shipment from HK Germany for HK45 pistols on the horizon at this time."

No wonder companies like CanAm refuse to provide a date for their stuff.

Hey Wanstalls, please ask HK or the distributor to throw in some thread protectors. As a bunch of the people here don't seem to be worried about it, the cost should be significantly less to only give them to those of us who are. Thanks!

My friend got his from another company, we ordered the same day, mine came a week earlier but his came with the thread protector. which is why I don't understand why our didn't come with them. I'd be better with waiting if I knew everyone was hahah

Not quite the first week of June yet. Guys give wanstalls a break. I can't believe you aren't used to delays that are out of the sellers hands in this business. These guys offer pretty much the best service I have ever experienced from an online company.

Delays are not the retailers fault. You put a deposit down, not the full amount on the pistol. Believe me, the store wants the guns to be here as much as we do.

I'm certain if someone doesn't want their pistol anymore, they could create an EE ad and take a loss on the pistol pre-order to another CGN'r if they wish.

Actually, I put the whole amount down. And I do still want the pistol. And a thread protector :) Have a good weekend!

I still want mine and while the wait may be frustrating, i don't blame Wanstalls. Was just curious if they knew whether it got shipped out or not yet.

... and you expect them to throw something in for free for you. Good luck.
I do expect a company to stand behind what they say, and I just figured it couldn't hurt to ask them to ask the importer or HK to throw something free in for me. Apparently that seems to bother a large number of people. I didn't ask you for anything, not sure why you care. Thanks for the luck, as I'm sure I'll need it!

.....Or they could just ask to be refunded their deposit without taking a loss, considering this is not a minor delay. Expecting the buyer to take a loss this far outside the delviery time frame would be pretty unreasonable. I'm sure Wanstalls would be pretty good about it though. While it's not their fault this happened, things just didn't go down as intended.

That said, I myself am fine with waiting and I'm sure others are.

I found threads protectors for a very good price. I bought one for my HK45C and one for my Glock19 TB. Total cost including shipping was something like 52$.

The threads protectors are we'll made with an o ring inside so they stayn place.

Agree that they have great service. I was just looking (hoping?) for a "Yeah, we have confirmed they are shipped". If they are due to be here next week then they should have been shipped right? If they have been shipped then I would bet Gary would know about it. If there is no shipping confirmation then they are not going to be here next week.

Buddy brought his by the other day he bought the h&k 45 compact with the threaded barrel added a little flashlight laser under the barrell what a beauty!! Decocker, the gun is beautiful. Only thing it doesn't have is the ambi de cocker I think or the ambi slide release can't remember. He has had his for about a month now, he got his from someone else. Didn't take nearly as long as these guys. This is serious bad luck on wanstalls . Wow this is an epic and on going saga. Hang in there guys, it's worth the wait, besides will make a great retirement gift by the time they actually get here.
