Did you notice in the attached printed add that they apparently have to have attached pistol grip bottoms to the stock (like California) but apparently the scary Steyr Aug are OK as long as you can afford $3999? Phil.

That's what I would be buying for sure.

Make fun all you want guys but at least you can actually legally buy a steyr aug and can hunt with a AK47 with a silencer on it in New Zealand.

They have some retarded rules but im sure we have a hell of a lot more of them.

I hate that whenever foreigners look to guns in NZ, all they see is GC advertising - cool rifles at ridiculous prices, pieces of #### at ridiculous prices. Apparently the AUG's are the only black rifles they sell that are actually well priced all else considered. But selling Norc AR's at $1700 - $2K, ##### please. You can actually buy US an CAD AR's down here for that money.

Our gun pricing is a lot more expensive than Canada (we're at the bottom of the world) but at least NZ kids can hunt with AR's. Which would Canadians rather have - expensive guns or gun freedom?

That's one strange looking AR stock.

Yes - its a spear mags stock. Our one concession in AR ownership for those on a standard licence: http://spearmags.co.nz/.
In NZ anyone over the age of 16 can apply for a firearms licence. With that licence you can hunt on public/private land and own as many unregistered guns as you want. However Semi Autos are resticted to 7 round max mags and must have a thumbhole stock like the one pictured. Once you have a standard A cat licence you can then apply for an E Cat licence which allows you essentially unrestricted type Semi Auto firearms. With this licence you can still hunt on public/private land but you cant lend your gun to anyone. So if the gun pictured was an E Cat rifle on my licence my son wouldnt be allowed to use it hence it having a thumbhole stock.

That thumbhole stock doesn't look very free.
Besides, go hunt with your Tavor or Type 97

Nah, we're much more likely to hunt with FAL's, AR's or AK's. Why settle for less? :p I've even heard of people hunting with G3's and the like, but that is a lot less common than the AR, which is everywhere here now.
