ACR Media and Info Thread

Lmao

I missed that post. Thanks for pointing that out!

I've been holding back the "I told you so" since I saw that post.
It's too bad Bushmaster isn't able to catch up to demand and get some more rifles, caliber conversions and parts flowing.
I'm still waiting for my new bolt and extractor so I can get my 6.8SPC II barrel running but at least my 300BLK barrel is working great now. I have a lot of rounds built for load testing, I hope to have a good varmint load, a good deer hunting load, and a good subsonic load developed by mid June when my holiday ends, 2 more nightshifts then off till the 11th :D

Wow man. Turns out cr5 is outproducing Bushmaster and filling their promises for them. You should open your own shop!

I'm still curious to see range reports from those factory DMR's.

The lack of easily accessible conversions makes it so damn hard to decide between the XCR key-mod light-barrel, or an ACR non-res.

I think cr5 should write a guide to how he's sourced the parts to make caliber conversion kits, what businesses he's used to get the work done, etc. :-D

Is there really THAT small of a market up here that it's not worth putting the money in for any of the existing Canadian company's to produce parts for it. Like produce bolt heads, and 18.6" barrels w/ gas blocks etc. and sell as a kit for $750 or so, like the XCR kits from wolverine? I know I'm asking someone else to do bushmasters job for them... but well........ apparently nothing's getting done there so.

There are a couple on the EE now.
I was quoted $2500 for a new one in Edmonton just before I bought my used one for $2200. I now have around $3500 into it with 3 non restricted caliber conversions.

What's stopping you from owning one?
Buy one and then show us pictures :)

I paid $2000 for mine, so by the time I have Herron do the barrel, and add a trigger, I should be in for around $3300. If and when the DMR arrives, it should run about the same with the poly handguard,GST, and shipping.

These are the only two companies I know of that make aftermarket parts for the ACR, I have no idea if they will ship to Canada.

My non restricted 223 barrel came with some extra gas system parts and anything else is from Gravel.
I spoke to my machinist/R&D partner/buddy last night and my 6.8SPC bolt should be on it's way to me today so I'll probably have it early next week.
My 6.8SPC barrel came from Questar clearance bin and I had my 300BLK barrel custom built by another machinist buddy of mine.
The 300BLK conversion requires you to shorten your op rod so unless you order a spare you are stuck with 300BLK once you do the conversion.

I'm pretty sure my barrel guy has another 30 cal 8 twist blank if anyone is interested. PM me and I'll help you get set up. It's an easy conversion but requires you do a little work yourself (unless you live close enough to me that I can help).

I wouldn't go into business doing this because there are too many people that want it but aren't willing to pay enough for it to make the work required worth while for everyone involved.
I can supply a stripped stainless barrel for around $550 then you need to install your gas system (or send me your parts and I'll do it for a minimal fee). The 300BLK needs a new op rod guide built unless you want a thin spot in your barrel where it needs to be. With a 30 cal bore it doesn't leave a lot of material if you use the factory guide.
Now that I've figured out what gas port size is needed it will be easy to make more barrels.

I have a new project for you, cr5! A 22LR conversion for the ACR. I'll let you figure it out and then I'll buy the first one you produce after you get the prototype working.

I wouldn't say that, quite a few people want a tested/ working conversion to buy, not something that needs to be fiddled with to get running right. Part of the reason I ordered from Herron and he also can supply the rifle and do the conversion before transfer so no need to register a restricted or have an RPAL.

Argonauts Reincorporated.

I don't think they will ship to Canada though.

Just order a bolt and extractor from Gravel and wait 5-6 months to get it then have a machinist open the face to accept whichever cartridge you are going to use.
This is why I like the 300BLK so much, no changes other than barrel and gas system length, once it's done it's just a 30 second swap and you're firing a new caliber.
