Colt Canada rifles to the public?

He never said they were already built, I only wonder because they are marked as diemaco, which is a now defunct company.

Why would you re-tool to manufacture new diemaco parts? Now imagine you had some left over "NIB" from before..... and here is a chance to sell them...

I only say police because military ones would have been select fire.

so yeah... these rifles "would" be available in the future, but it does not mean that they are new manufacture.

I happen to know there are companies in Canada that are sitting on piles of rifles that they are not able to sell, and they are lobbying the government to permit the sale of said rifles...

Also, if I had ex-police or military firearms I wanted to sell commercially, I would never admit that to the government, Think of how much harder it is to sell a "military" or "police" rifle to civilians... a "civilian version" however... even though it is mechanically the same, is an easier sell to the uneducated politicians and public.

Either way, I dont care.

I would love a CC or Diemaco C8, regardless of when it was made or for who.

Once again. They are not stamped Diemaco. The WILL be stamped Diemaco

Yes it definitely means they are new.

Other then the little things like the stampings, something scribbled here and another thing scribbled their whats really different from this and say Colt USA current M16A4 clone the AR15A4.

The only thing I can see different between my 20"A4 vs the C7 is my handguards not being green and having a solid full size buttstock.

I bet anything this will be the new #### measuring contest on the forums, arguing over "milspec" and Colt USA manufacturing vs Cold Canada manufacturing.

Sounds like good news if it actually happens....it will be interesting to see the price on these firearms....lets hope for the best...

For starters, the C7 was developed seperate from the M16A2, and the finished product closer resembles the M16A1E1 than the M16A2, with improvements such as the handguards and structural strengthening, while retaining A1 iron sights and carry handle. So, while they may share a common ancestor, the C7 and M16A4 are not the same rifle.

Some other differences are the heavy, hammer forged barrels and a different mounting point for the M203.

The C7A1 uses a fourteen point rail instead of the thirteen point Picatinny Rail.

The C7A2 has a telescoping stock and standard green furniture.

My guess is that they will be more in the range of "collectables" pricing compared to other similar-quality commercial offerings.

Other sources have indicated that there will be both "C7" and "C8" pattern offerings, so you can have it your way :)

They will only be test firing with 17 rds instead of 37 rds for the military version. That should cut the cost down . Kidding ,but I would definitely get one for nostalgia sake if for no other reason.

I believe they only do 17 because they don't have a full auto setting to test.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email.

Colt Canada is reviewing the possibility of offering the C7 for sale to commercial markets. We are currently working with licensing and regulatory authorities in order to assess when this can be accomplished as well as reviewing the specific products which we are looking to offer. Colt Canada is expecting to make an announcement in this regard during the first part of the 2014 calendar year.

A lot of uncertainty but a C8 with pencil barrel would be most welcome!

I have already told Matt that unless I hear an IUR is going retail I am not going to start drooling.

If anything hits the streets from the Colt Canada plant it will be a good thing.

I'm betting the cost is North of $3K - quite a bit North. They'll position themselves at the very top of the price scale, simply because they'll still sell every last one they make. If you had a product that you flat out knew was going to sell out (probably in hours, not days) and that the market was both drooling and well heeled, and you knew you could triple your per unit margin, you'd do the same. It wouldn't surprise me to see these come out higher than the Swiss - I'm thinking $4K plus. They already have a reputation as the best issue AR made, lots of SF's use them - why not crank the price.

if they have 4k plus price point or even anything above $2500 they can keep them.

I had the opportunity to inspect the first civilian C7A2 and C8A3 a few weeks ago. They are very nice.
Other models are anticipated over the next year.
