M2A1 Halftrack Resto dialup beware

Thanks for the interest all. It gets 3mpg. When I was first running the engine in I couldnt believe how much gas dissipeared from the lil jerry can I was using. I gave the wife a ride that day, she was up there with the 50. I didnt get out of 4 gear in low and she said it was too fast lol. Still alot more to do but I think its all happy times from here on for me and my wallet

My hats off to you. That is some quality workmanship and a pile of hours right there. Glad to see your efforts come to fruition finally.

Since today was the 70th anniversary of D-day, the last few days I was getting her ready for her first drive today. Just alot of last minute stuff,,,,,, sooooooo here it is, the first drive under her own power. The wife took the vid and she isn't tech savvy so its not the greatest. Still more to go so more updates coming.

Totally awesome!!! Just curious, are you a Heavy duty/ mechanic by trade? Were/Are there factory manuals available on how to hook things up, etc., or were you able to "figure it out" as you went along?

I do restorations on older cars. Alot of the manuals were declassified awhile ago and are avail from many sources including free online for some manuals. I have alot of friends in the US that have halftracks and when i needed info or pictures of how things looked/went together they helped greatly. Not like theres one around every corner up here in canada lol

Well time is flying. Started to blast and test floors, of course after 70 years original stuff is bent, new stuff isnt quite right etc etc. I ended up finding a NOS french speedo for a good price, not exactly a look a like to the original speedo but it doesn't look all that bad. I also modified the air cleaner, it was an oil type. Inside there was a few inches of layered ##### crossed wire mesh and the oil stuck to it making it a filter. Not impressed I modified the system to use a modern canister type paper filter

Modified aircleaner. I made the center mount in the middle of pic. it welded in the large canister and holds the filter

Lots of HTs at Normandy 70th, there where even a couple on the ferry from Portsmouth (or as the French say "Poursmouse") to Ouistrehem.

^well appointed with "bling"
Vettes thats a great call going with dry paper filters instead of oil bath everything I have is dry paper and I will never go back to being a slave to "original all the way" and slopping oil everywhere. Great work on your HT.

LOL only if you want to buy it and have me restore it. After 3 long years, and a whack load of cash, its coming to an end. well kind of. There will always be little things to still add, like 2 more 1919s 8)
Im waiting on condition and price of replacement fenders before i start on mine. So far I have had my brother and his very young kids out for a ride, and my cuz who's on gunnutz and lives in the same town as me. I think they liked it lol

Looking good! A great idea to change that oil bath air filter over to paper canister. I should see about trying the same with mine when I finally get there.

Sooooooo last week I got the last fender on, reshot paint on the body and let it sit. The last gauge for the dash also showed.

Im waiting on the star templates and hood ord number templates so I can paint them on soon.
today I pulled her out for the first fully finished body shots. Still need some small stuff like another gas can, a few more machine guns etc but all the hard stuff is done
