Boy hoyt you have an axe to grind or what? Question, do you have a btvs. Yes youve had savages but do you own a btvs? I guess you havent done any reading on the btvs. Guess you havent gone to rimfire central or the savage forums. If you had, youd know Im right about the floor plate and that just a few lbs difference can make a huge difference on group size. A new plate and trigger guard stops the flex that the original parts have. But to you Im just a pain that doesnt know anything. Thanks for being so helpful to the OP.
Well... here is the opportunity for a "life-lesson..." I have a single solitary "beef" with you, or "axe to grind," if you prefer... it is this; your propensity to speak with authority on subjects with which you have ZERO experience, as demonstrated by the quote from you a couple posts above... "I havent upgraded the guard or plate yet but I know it really helps!"
You do this repeatedly, and then have the nerve to argue at length with those that do know. Listen up Little Airwolf... there is room for everyone here, but you need to know it's ok to say "I don't know"... and when you don't have personal, direct experience that is what you SHOULD say... if you like, you can add "but I have read..." which is mostly what you have done.
I have manufactured Savage bottom metal... the trigger guard does nothing other than protect the trigger (Savage's TG is as stiff as any aftermarket TG regarding resisting torque, trigger guards are change from the FV and GV models to the "B" series stocks because they either are built in (FV) or don't fit (GV)), although you seem to think that the TG will somehow aid shooting (???), but I did not say that you were wrong about the magazine plate assisting with controlling shifting torque... I have written at length on it here and on RFC and many other forums...
So you tell me to go to Rimfire Central... and I say to you "you go to RFC" (
http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=410229), and go to the Savage forum, and check the stickies... and under the combined stickies check "Blue Danube's Aftermarket Parts" thread (which I wrote), you will find all of the then available aftermarket parts for modding Savage rifles, including tutorials... I'm "hoytcanon" over there also... an if you check the picture threads and back posts you will find many of my projects there.
But in case you are disinclined to do the work... here are a just a few (there have been many more, and if you look carefully you will a number of custom BTVS models);
