ACR Media and Info Thread

I wouldn't say that, quite a few people want a tested/ working conversion to buy, not something that needs to be fiddled with to get running right. Part of the reason I ordered from Herron and he also can supply the rifle and do the conversion before transfer so no need to register a restricted or have an RPAL.

The fiddling and tweaking part of doing a conversion that no one else has done before is the best part. I like making things work, it's more fun than just buying something someone else has done all the work on.

Well, now that you have one on the way you can start saving up for a 450B kit from 1911A1, he has been using his quite a bit and says it's working great. Easy to make another one other than the 6 month wait for a new bolt.

It is ordered as a 450 from Herron so no need to save or wait for a kit I was not given info for.

The rifles purpose is hunting, I don't want to fiddle with a conversion and risk wounding or missing animals because of poor function. It has to work the first time every time or I just wasted a lot of money for nothing.

My ACR is purchased, arrangements are made with Ian at Herron Arms to do the rebarrel as soon as he receives the ACR, so it's just a matter of waiting. I called the dealer that I had the deposit with, for the ACR DMR, and requested my deposit back, and there was no issue with that, but the dealer seemed to get a little excited to find out that Bushmaster had no ETA for the DMR. He asked where I received the information from, and when I informed him that it was directly from Bushmaster, he didn't appear happy.

I was going to wait for the DMR but then I would be waiting again for other calibers to become available after that so I just ordered what I wanted now. The stock on the DMR would be nice to have along with a folder and the trigger upgrade is nice but I already have another 223 so I don't see that barrel getting any use other than resale vale for someone to do a conversion

Ok, so I got the Dlask barrel installed and my ACR is back home!!
Pics: (since I never posted any yet)

Haven't shot it yet, I see a range trip in my near future!

I finished my op rod guide for my 300 Blackout conversion today. I'll take some pics tomorrow if I have time and post a few.
I'm hoping the weather cooperates tomorrow so I can get to the range and do some load development on the 300BLK barrel and on my 338 Lapua. Hopefully the wind and rain will p!ss off for a day.

Looks good except you put the foam in upside down. You want the scope at the top when you are carrying it.

Hey I suppose your right on that one, I never considered that. Good call, thanks!

More pics: (air soft hand guard. No heat shield = very light. Also removed barrel wrench)

I shot it today, I put the QD scope back on that was sighted in on my old 16.5" barrel and shot a 600ml bottle at 25yards 3 times.
Gonna get to the range on the weekend.

Had the 300BLK out today :)
Found a couple good loads :)
Bent the op rod which turned it into a single shot :(
I'll see if I can get some stainless or titanium bar stock the right diameter from my machinist buddy to build a new one.
I may need to buy a small lathe after all :)
Don't think I can stand waiting another 4-6 months for parts from Gravel.

At least I still have a fully functional 223 barrel and I have the parts for my 6.8 SPC conversion, just need to tweak the extractor a little and it will be running.

I've been playing a lot with different configurations and this is what I ended up with:

If ever I buy a dedicated scope for my Micro 7 I'll probably move the scope in its mount a bit but other than that I think this is it.

still waiting for the 2nd run of Dlask 18.5" tho ):

The extended hand guard -is it the real deal? Or airsoft one?

Edit: must be real? Mine totally covers the gas block and adjuster.

Hello Mods,

How about making this thread a sticky? 30 pages about one rifle without it degrading into a p!ssing contest.
A little cleanup and there is a ton of great info in here hitting on everything ACR.

Thanks.

Is anyone making thumb safeties that don't dig into your index finger yet? I am reluctant to shave it off.

Don't be scared it was WAY too easy! Took ten minutes including removal and installation. Used 80grit and 400grit and I used the top of my tube tv as a surface for the paper lol. I was scared but not anymore, just go slowly and keep looking at how much it's taking off.

Herron Arms now has my Restricted ACR, so now it's sit back and wait until it is rebarreled, and hope that with the recent shootings, they don't refuse to deregister it, or worse yet prohibit it. If everything goes well, I should have a non restricted ACR in a month or so.
