3Gun Shotgun: 21 or 24 barrel?

No.
Its not even on Stoeger Canada's radar.
When I last spoke to them, they had never ever heard of the model.

Prophet river had brought a few in, not sure it they have any left.
Irunguns had them at one point, not sure if they still have any stock.

I have a 28" barrel and when im in the us the extension is 6" beyond that....it can be kind of unwieldy at times

The 26 inch VM most popular down south with the extension give those shooters 10+1 which works. I don't see the advantage of longer barrels as in 3Gun Nation matches which is what I shoot, the usual max load is nine in the gun before the buzzer. On reloads or anytime after the buzzer you can bump up to ten in the tube. Most shooters wait until a reload but of course that depends on the stage. I suppose there are other matches with unlimited capacity if you shoot in Open.

Longer tubes tend to make every reload easier...its not all about capacity. Having said that, it gives up maneoverability and dump barrels can be an issue. I recently went back to just a nine shot tube, which goes just beyond the muzzle.

I hear you. My gun came with the eight round extension tube installed and blocked with a metal plug. Initially that set the gun to 4 + 1. Interestingly, the steel plug fell out on its own to open the tube to full capacity. I did some home engineering and fashioned a plug to bring the capacity to 6 + 1 x 2-3/4 rounds for my Canadian shooting. I contacted a supplier in the US who shipped me a +1 extension cap and a +2 extension cap. These are very well made products. In the US I take out my plug (it complies with the tool requirement) and attach one or the other cap, usually the +2. That extends everything roughly 3 inches beyond the muzzle. The only downside is that the extension gets a lot of powder residue. I get around this by coating the cap with FrogLube before shooting and the gunk wipes clean with a rag. The guys who use the 26 inch guns have 10+1 without extending beyond the muzzle. All the variations work OK and the fun goes on.:shotgun:

I picked up the 21" Beretta 1301, the 24" was long! I assume you want said gun as it's only offered in 21" and 24". Its preference really 3" doesn't make a HUGE difference in accuracy at ranges beyond 50m. Choke, ammo selection and skill will make or break ya!!

Skill...?

'You mean I just can't go out and buy the shotgun that will make me a winner...?

Years ago, I was into golf in a big way and went big in the equipment department to the tune of about $2000 for my Callaway clubs which were the cats aZZ in the day.

Of course they did little for my game but having them made me feel warm and fuzzy. Jack Nicklaus was at the top of the game at that time. He promoted a line of clubs that were sold for around $79-89 in the big box stores. Some smartazz maintained that Jack could beat 99% of the guys out there with the K Mart clubs and was right. It's still fun to have nice toys. :)

Rem 870 with 26in barell holding 10+1. Perfect for me.

10 of 2 3/4 in the magazine

Many match rules say that the shotgun can only be loaded with a total of 9rds to start (total capacity, not magazine capacity), unless you want to go to Open class. Actually, all of the match rules that I've seen say this, but I haven't looked around all that much. Anyone know of rules that say otherwise?

Most bigger matches state "no more than 9 rounds in the gun before the start"
That means after the start signal, you may add more shells if the law allows, and your gun is able to accept more shells.

That's the way it is in 3Gun Nation matches. Most good shooters will time their reloads for when they're moving and don't top up at the buzzer. Of course a lot depends on the stage. A lot of shooters use the MatchSaver device for when one more round is needed. With practice you can load that round in a blink.

Our PR/FSJ privateer rules currently allow for 10 in the mag at stage start, unless otherwise specified by the CoF.
