I have a 28" barrel and when im in the us the extension is 6" beyond that....it can be kind of unwieldy at times
Longer tubes tend to make every reload easier...its not all about capacity. Having said that, it gives up maneoverability and dump barrels can be an issue. I recently went back to just a nine shot tube, which goes just beyond the muzzle. The 26 inch VM most popular down south with the extension give those shooters 10+1 which works. I don't see the advantage of longer barrels as in 3Gun Nation matches which is what I shoot, the usual max load is nine in the gun before the buzzer. On reloads or anytime after the buzzer you can bump up to ten in the tube. Most shooters wait until a reload but of course that depends on the stage. I suppose there are other matches with unlimited capacity if you shoot in Open.

Most bigger matches state "no more than 9 rounds in the gun before the start"
That means after the start signal, you may add more shells if the law allows, and your gun is able to accept more shells.
Many match rules say that the shotgun can only be loaded with a total of 9rds to start (total capacity, not magazine capacity), unless you want to go to Open class. Actually, all of the match rules that I've seen say this, but I haven't looked around all that much. Anyone know of rules that say otherwise?
