Definitely a buyers market for AR's right now

The main reason AR prices are so low in Canada right now is simply due to supply and demand. Last year after the sandy hook and the theatre shooting people got scared that the democrats were about to bring out a ban hammer large enough to make the last assault weapons ban look like a minor inconvenience to gun owners. Both of the shooters also used AR-15s and this rifle was front row and center in the media. People began panic buying, stock piling , hoarding AR's and ammo. All of the dealers sold out, distributors sold out and manufacturers couldn't keep up. Colt 6920's were retailing for $1800 USD! So of course while times are good dealers put in large orders for rifles and manufacturers ramped up production. Over a year later and the US fed Gov hasn't imposed any meaningful changes to firearms legislation (although some states have tightened their gun laws) and the panic is over. Not only are dealers selling less AR's than before the ban due to people stocking up during the panic but the market is saturated with the AR-15s that manufacturers built for the large dealer orders.

I saw someone pay $3500 for a Ruger AR at the Buffalo Gun Center last year. It was the last rifle left on the shelf and there were 2 other people in line to buy it if this guy were to walk away from it. They're still bitter over there....

Thanks for the insight from the industry’s point of view. I hope you have a bottomless pit of Colt ARs and you keep them in those firesale prices because when my wife finally forgives me for the last rifle I bought without permission, I'll buy a Colt from you guys..........I'm not that confident that Colt Canada will be selling C7s and C8s for anything cheaper than what you’ve been able to do for us. Prices are supposed to be coming out soon.

Definitively a buyer market. I was thinking about selling an AR15 but at the price I could sell it, I decided to keep it. I don't know if the prices will go up in a few years.....

Overall it's good news that AR15 go down in prices.

Colts are nice. Wish they made a left-handed version. Wish I could find a LH version of DD, Stag, just about anything....Are there that few of us around?

Nothing wrong with left-handed rifles and I have been happy with my Stag lefty.

But for the shooting I have done a right handed rifle works just as well, and in fact for CQB and similar I find it is easier to shoot a right handed rifle (in a left-handed manner) because on a line with other shooters it seems to work better to have all the casings going in the same direction.

So don't let the right-handedness of these rifles bother you, they work fine for lefties and might also be easier to find parts and if necessary buyers for a right handed rifle.

Like this:

Or this:

Or the other 5 models they usually carry?

I own a right handed 3G and it's a well put together rifle.
Very accurate and well balanced.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.
It's also $200 cheaper than when I bought it in Jan 2013.

Sorry if I'm ignorant as a Black Rifle newbie, but why drop $1500+ on a used AR built to someone else's spec when an EBR style M305 is cheaper, a Norc "M4" is super cheaper and a Colt AR is STILL CHEAPER! Especially for a range queen.

Why buy a Porsche GT3 when an F150 is cheaper, and a Hyundai is super cheap? ...especially for a track day car?

been looking... but I dropped $20k on pension buyback last month and I'm going to be dropping just over $48k on a new truck for my wife this month.... bank account is getting low, but perhaps in the next month or 2....

I have decided that I need an AR10/AR25 in 7.62x51/308 :)

So a NON restricted AR10 style rifle would be right up your alley? In a few months this will be a reality.:D

It is an interesting phenomenon to witness. I think that while certainly Canada is impacted by the US market as explained by Irunguns, perhaps an even more important explanation is the widespread availability of inexpensive non-US produced ARs and ammo. When I think about how many norc m4geries and how many cases of inexpensive pinking ammo that Canada Ammo has put into the hands of Canadians from coast to coast, I think they deserve a medal! Strength is in numbers and I don't think any single company has done more in the past 3 years to swell the ranks of AR owners than Canada Ammo. NEA, Irunguns, and others have helped contribute to this shift in the market as well.

The fact remains that ARs are range toys and as such, there are only so many Rpal holders who get the itch...with so many ARs now under $1K, a lot of itches have been scratched! The market is soft, especially for frankenguns, and I think this will be the new normal for quite some time.

If i had to buy one id go for the Norinco one.

Norinco is the best forget the rest!
Norinco... the meaning of life..
Norinco beams with quality.
Norinco food for the soul.

Ok i'll stop here lol.

Can't be serious 100% of the time.

Sorry to disappoint you friends.

Those lines were from a crappy slogan generator and i thought it was funny.

The AR market is saturated. You can't give the stuff away... There is crap loads of Sig they can't give away. TSE blow a whole bunch out at $1100, which was the deal of the century. Every distributor in Canada is over stocked with AR.

Yep, and if Colt Canada releases the Civvie C7 and C8 at a reasonable price (like Walmart USA prices hopefully), then that should help put more ARs into our greedy little hands :)

You guys are living in a freakin pipe dream... I was told these are going to be a premium rifle, which is going to command a premium price. These are supposed to be coming with a hard case, OTIS cleaning kit, sling and Colt Canada marked lock block.
