Any Plans for a .308 AR? MAJOR UPDATE MAY 8 2014

rick do you think it would be possible to do one in.338federal ..... it's a .308 case and should also fit the mags fine ...... would be a stomper of a hunting rifle in that caliber without going magnum

ATR, come on now... you did say when the proto is back you'd whet our visual appetites some more... you know, so we can bicker and complain about dust covers some more :dancingbanana:

Yes the prototype IS back. But to put up photos of what is a VERY crude but operational prototype that will only resemble the final product in so far as the operating system just seems to invite unwanted problems, complaints etc. as already seen in this thread.
We are working on the final design and once we have it, I will be posting a ton of photos.
Until then sorry, but everyone will need to be patient a little longer.

But, but but, you absolutely have to post the pictures because we know what is best for the gun and just like how we decide how remington/knights/dd/armalite designs their rifles, we need to do the same... lol

Keep up the good work, and I agree with not posting a single photograph until your design is ready. 99% of the people that seem to be the best product designers here will not buy that rifle anyways and complain about the price, pretty sure you know this already and know who your market is.

Please dont apologize, maybe unprofessional to a few but nothing wrong with speaking the truth. You guys build pretty well the best, even though a bit pricey. If i was in your position i would steady be slamming the competition who sells poorly made firearms in hopes it would up their game.... but that's probably why im not in business lol.

Apparently you must be quite a bit younger than I am and are not familiar with the products of K-TEL International of the 1970s. They marketed their products on TV and were for the most part junk.
IF you felt I was inferring to Keltec Arms you are 100% mistaken, and I am sorry if you took it that way.
I TOO agree that to slam another manufacturer, even if it is deserved is very unprofessional.
I personally have no experience with the Keltec firearms so do not know if they jam or not.

Well while I am not a 18 year old kid I am not old enough to be familiar with k-tec international. I get te misunderstanding, now one things if you could clean up your tread as it was muddied buy my post and these other nice fellas.

Thank you

Question.
If only the operating system will remain unchanged, and the furniture becomes more "ARish" does this not possibly lead to a reclassification by the RCMP lab?
Just asking because if you get something classified that looks and operates like a lever action, then you change it to look like an AK, could that not lead to problems. I am only asking because we know to well the "lab" bans and prohibits on looks only sometimes.

I think that's the difference between cosmetic versus mechanical operation changes. I would think that any "re-registering" that occurred due to going from a plywood stock to a walnut one, or even an aluminium one would be relatively straightforward to get overturned in court. On the other hand, if you submit a lever action and then completely change the design to use a piston gas system that is effectively a completely different gun.

I'm so impatient! Pics or it didn't happen!

What's derailing this thread is the mistakes people like you keep making...

Sorry I'm not a robot man, human beings make mistakes, what operating system are you working off of again?

As for the rifle, I am quite excited for it, will caliber switches be simple like with AR-15 and AR-10 variants? If so that would be even better than an already awesome concept already is.

The operating system and the basic upper/lower design we can not change, or we are back to square 1 again. We can make cosmetic changes however.
What we sent was essentially a bare block of metal, so now we can start to sculpt the form to make it look nice, replace the knob we used as a charge handle with something more resembling the FN FAL charge handle, flare the mag well, develop a bolt hold open and bolt release mechanism and so on. Changing the furniture will not alter the classification in any way. As long as the upper and lower remain non compatible with anything AR10 ish we should be fine.

i'm really looking forward to seeing this rifle hit the market. it has potential to be a rifle that i've been searching for over the last few years. A accurate semi in 308, plus its Canadian and NR. not to mention if it ever gets scaled down to a 223 or similar caliber i'll be tempted to sell my AR. (kidding!!!! who sells guns???)
