I am looking for the slanted AK muzzle brake to put on my SKS. It is a small and light but effective muzzle brake.

I'd like to know where I can get it and, most importantly, how to securely and properly install it. I don't mind threading the muzzle on my SKS but I would like to know the proper procedure. I don't want to use an adapter unless it is small and light and doesn't add to the length of the barrel. Thanks.

Look up what thread pitch is on an AK (I believe its threaded 14mm-1.0 LH.), get your SKS barrel threaded the same by a gunsmith, and buy an AK slanted muzzle brake for $15 from brownells.
Done.

Do they make these for the VZ58, which is already threaded? I'm assuming the brake you want is similar to the one in the pic:

I wonder if thereader are any plausible technical reasons of having this thingy on SKS. It does not do any good even on 858.

Mostly 'just for show' would be my guess. Probably does very little, except for making your rifle look cool.

I think it looks better.

Regarding effect on my SKS. It is working amazingly well, I do not have any muzzle climb. Coolness is a factor too, but shooting is way more comfortable with it. Anyway, this SKS with muzzle brake will wait until I can get SKS to ak kit. It was not complete rifle, mismatched # and bubbaed way before me, so I can do it.

Slant brake I bought from corwin works perfect on my vz 58. It makes rifle very steady.

What leverage effect. It does not over compensate my vz 58 it actually makes it better

I see a lot of positives here about this device on VZ. Interesting. I did research on this question awhile ago, but my conclusion was as mentioned above.

DLASK ARMS clearly warns about overcompensate effect on VZ:

They are gun builders, not just sellers, so they know better. Others just sellers - they never say bad about their items -they just need to sell.

Those who think it shoots better - well, I would say it would make a difference for sure, and it's just someone's perception how it feels. You might ask your friend to watch you shooting from the side. Is it something like this?

That video shows quite obvious kick-down. Not on yours?
