Hey all, I'm currently rethinking my precision rifle build and I was trying to plan out what would be a decent budget optic for it. I was wondering what fixed 10 power optics you guys can think of. I guess budget would be below 800$. I know there is the Bushnell fixed 10 power and then there is the SWFA SS scopes that we can't get in Canada to my knowledge. I also know on the high end there is the US optics 10 power. Obviously I am looking at something with a mildot based reticle. I guess another question about the Bushnell and SWFA scopes do these optics actually have a settable zero (such as a zero stop) or would I have mark down where it's zero'd at 100 yards?
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
Falcon 10X can be had from places like Frontier, 300$, not overly enthrawled with them myself, but reasonable price.
Bushnell do two, the 3200 and the Tactical in 10X, I for one was less than impressed with them, but 350$ should put one at your door.
Hawke do a 10X, about 4-500$
Sightron does one for about 500$ give or take
IOR do 2 fixed 10s, I had their 10X56 (800$-ish), the glass was nice, loved the scope until the internal coating flaked, and yes, then the customer service garbage began. That was 10 years ago, and now I am thinking about one again.
Leupold do the Tactical ones (1800ish),
US Optics do one, lots of options on them too, I priced one up and it was 1800$ in no time.
KAPS do some fixed 10s, including two 'sniper' versions, but are 18-2200$ish
Schmidt & Bender PMII I think can still be ordered, it is the bee's knees, 1600$ish though, but really is the cream of the crop.
Shop around, the prices really vary, I have seen the IORs going from 700-1000+. Ebay will sometimes turn up old classics, there have been a lot of companies make fixed 10s, but not so many now. I use an S&B now, but for less than 1K I would look at the IOR 10X56, or try to check out a Hawke and Sightron, and see what their glass looks like.
