Shorten PAL Approval Times

/facepalm

Only in Quebec....

I at the least would have insisted on having a copy of the finished form (and mailed a copy of that in as well)

Well there is a cutout at the bottom of the form that they gave me. The only thing is that I would've wanted to send this by registered mail to track thr letter but I can't!!!

And yes, only in f'in Québec.

Mailed my PAL application on May 5th. (BTW I already have a POL.) Called RCMP on June 6th and was told not in he system yet.
Called again on June 12 th application had been received and photo had to be scanned. I asked if I could speed things up by having my references call in and was told they don't need to talk to them only when applying for an RPAL. Called again June 19 th photo had been scanned and application completed. I asked if I could have my PAL number so I could go buy a rifle.
He told me my number would be the same as my POL but the last number after the decimal point would be one higher.
So now I wait hopefully get it next week!

OK, it's time to chime in on my experiences. I'm in Alberta.

PAL course...March 15
rPAL course..April 12

Mailed in paperwork...April 15

Only one of my references interviewed...May 20

Appeared on-line and cheque cleared...May 22

Licence number showed up on-line...June 20

Still waiting on the card.

So, 14 weeks (approximately) from start to finish. Although, I still don't have the card in my hand. Hopefully another week or so. I've already shopped and bought a pistol and a rifle.

Now....more waiting.....

Edit: I saw something interesting on the RCMP site when I checked to see if my license had been issued. It said that they had received my application on April 22. It didn't appear on-line until May 22. Must have been a big pile that I was at the bottom of. A month to start processing.

Same thing here. They received it on May 9 and took payment on my credit card on June 5. In the meantime I had called in and the agent I spoke with told me they were receiving an "abnormally high amount" of applications this year...

That is fantastic! I really don't mind the wait. The more the merrier!
