Shorten PAL Approval Times

That would be the mandatory 28 day waiting period.

In their minds it is, but it isn't really.
The act says 28 days before it can be issued, not 28 days before processing can begin.

Also, if the applicant already has a license, there isn't a waiting period.
However, since it appears they don't even open the envelope for 28 days, everyone gets that wait.

Did my non restricted course at the end of March, and my restricted course last weekend (small town, one instructor, looooong story) so I was finally able to get my full application in the mail yesterday!

I know there's some good information in the first post of this thread, but it was from 2010 and things have probably changed a lot since then... Without reading/searching through the entire 725 pages in this thread, could someone provide a quick summary of what I should do (and anything I should NOT do) to ensure the processing happens as efficiently as possible???

Your help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Read through the last 20 pages then plus the 1st two.. not much if anything has change.. though there is advice in here by myself and others instructing how to minimize the waiting etc

Filling in all the blanks on the form.... a given. Making sure the test results are included.... a given. These two simple things reduce wait times.

Never include the originals of the test results.. (as has been said many times before) and if in bantaripo.. send the app in w/o them and write on it that the results will be faxed when received back from the CFO.

One way to shorten things up is to send the app in 4 weeks before you take your course. (that gets the 28 day clock started while you are waiting for your course date rather than having it start after everything has been sent....saves 4 weeks from what i can see) You may get a letter saying your Course report is missing and giving you a fax number to forward it to. After you fax the course report it's pretty quick ......or at least it was for me (license issued 3 days after I faxed the R course report in)

3 days only could be possibly in theory with a PAL alone not an RPAL regardless of sending it in in advance since they will not do interviews etc etc until they have those reports as a rule

Faxed my CRFSC report on a Monday....called Wednesday morning and they said to have reference call....he called 10 minutes later....status changed to "license issued" that afternoon.

Faxed ny LTATT in last Wednesday to the NB CFO. Do they mail them or send by email?

Everywhere but bantario you should be given the test results as soon as you finish the course (moronic bantario)

make a copy and send/fax that to the CFC.. then scan the originals so you have a copy to keep elsewhere and keep the originals in a safe place. There is no replacing them period.

What did gun owners do to the Ontario CFO to piss him off so much haha.

I can confirm the 28 day thing. Application was received in NB on May 20th according to the ExpressPost tracking, showed up online on June 16th with a received date of May 20th. Calling tomorrow to make sure it's all good and hopefully do interview.
