But in case you don't know shooting a skunk with a 25/06 at 30 yards is not a good idea. The bullet ripped it apart so violently it was like it sprayed and the wife wasn't happy
You could always have the bbl set back and rechamber to 257Roberts. Then it wouldn't be so much like a 270.
Otherwise you might as well have a 270.![]()
Buddy has good results with the 125 matrix, win primers and retumbo...
We tried several powders and primers, and that was the winning combo, His is a Vanguard with a McGowan barrel.
Cool, curious to hear what you end up with for velocities after you play with powder types and quantities, though I gotta say, someone should give ya a hard time about all those nice rifles that are too pretty to leave the safe lest they fall into harm while leaning against the wall by the back door.![]()
Gentlemen, you obviously have not learned the trick to skunk shooting...............one must always head shoot a skunk, elstwise one will be in the midst of an odorous affair
Well I hit it in the head. Also throughout the entire body and part of the tail. Guess there's something to be said about angles....the greenish yellow mushroom cloud was kinda interesting....and then terrible...
