Range Day with my Mosin M38.

I need to buy a range finder already...

Oh, I use a slip on pad with my Mosins too. It makes shooting 100+ rounds an outing more enjoyable. Saves my shoulder considering I'm always shooting 50-75 shotgun shells/slugs before or afterwards every time I shoot as well.

Lots of fun with the new gong last week.

I've found that my M44 shoots about 2-3' right of POA with bayonet stowed at about 300 yds. Nothing that is quantifiable just something figured out on an extended range afternoon. Just offhand shooting, goofing around with the daughter.

Where you shooting surplus ammo at this target? The FMJ steel core bullets did not get thru this thingy? I would think that those bullets will turn this metal plate into the strainer?!
 
No way, at 50, 75 & 100 yrds with surplus x39 and x54 it just took the paint off. It says not to use fmjs on it for prolonged periods of time under 100 yrds. But I've got slugs and 30-30 I'll be throwing at it just as much.

Those are nice hits at 100 yards. Any one of them is a kill shot for a nice deer. Where I hunt, 100 yards is more than the average shot you will likely get.
