Inexpensive 22LR pistol reccomendations?

No-one ever mentions the Ruger Mk.1......

They don't get mentioned frequently because they have not been made for a lot of decades. And they seldom show up on the EE or other places for sale since those with them are commonly keeping them.

Same issue with Mk II's. But I come across those more often in the used area of gun shops and on the EE here.

So we're "stuck" with the current Mk III production model. Which isn't so bad since the silly stuff in them isn't that hard to swap out.

i had one on hold the day they came in, went to go get it then once i got it in my hands i didnt like it.
being 18% smaller or whatever they are it just didnt feel right.
it was just too small, i doubt a kid would even find it comfortable.
shame too, was a decent gun for fit and finish.

if they ever come down in price i may pick one up just to add to the collection of 1911's i have, and i would be interested to put some rounds through one to see how it feels shooting.

I've owned mine for about a year, however I decided to sell it now.
Its honestly a great little gun, I just found it hard switching between the full size 1911 and the browning 1911.
New shooters seem to love it because it is very light and has a nice trigger.
It ate up all the bulk ammo I was feeding it!

Me too....I went to the store with full intentions of buying one but when I picked it up it was "nope. doesn't feel good"

For sheer accuracy and shooting fun, the Ruger Mk II (they're ridiculously tricky to reassemble if you're not in the mood and I hear the Mk III is worse, so I'll stick to my Mk II).

For good accuracy and cheap cross training with another strike-fire pistol of whatever brand, the S&W MP22. Sort of new to me, 6 mos or so, but I'm quite happy with it. When I can buy .22 to shoot in the first place .

Going bang every time has more to do with the ammo than the pistol. You have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo a particular pistol will both shoot well and cycle the action. The cost of said ammo means nothing either.
Don't ever take a Ruger Mk anything apart. They're not made to be disassembled by the user. They work and are relatively inexpensive, but the trigger's are crappy and they aren't easy to work on. The upper is a press fit and getting 'em back together requires a lot of fiddling.

I have two mark-1’s and three mark-2's and I find them quite simple to take apart and re assemble.

The CZ Kadet is a nice little pistol too but they aren’t that cheap anymore and are getting harder to find. I have large hands so the kadet is a good fit for me.

Had one briefly. Too toy like for my liking. So, off she went.

Plus at ~ $500 beans, not exactly "inexpensive" as in the OP's original title.

Any of the Ruger semi-auto .22's..... MkI, MkII, MkIII or the 22/45 counterparts.... all good in my books.

Ruger 2245 ( I saw a MK3 go for 350$ ) I never once had a issue with my Ruger 2245 and I shot thousands from it, only mod was a VQ claw extractor.

IDK why all the complaints about "working" on a Ruger MK(3).
Sure it's not as easy to take-down like a Glock but if you can follow instructions, have some understanding about why/what you're doing and have some mechanical aptitude (use a can-opener?) then you're good to go…I just installed a Sam Lam's bushing to delete the mag disconnect on my MK3 Standard….pretty straight forward.

These Rugers are built like a Shyt Brick House, not ammo sensitive and can be enjoyed by a few generations.

I have a Ruger MK III Target and really like it. I have put thousands of rounds
through it and have never disassembled it. Every thousand rounds or so I remove the
grips and spray it out with brake clean let it dry then put a few drops of oil on the
moving parts. The grips go back on and it's good to go.

It is like anything you take apart and put back together a few times,the more you do it the easier it gets.....
