talk me out of a SW 9mm revolver

I have a 986. Excellent wheel gun. Amazingly accurate, and very well made.
It's as good as my 625-3's in quality, I was a little impressed.
Titanium cylinder reduces lock time, so it cycles fast and the cylinder notches should hold up to heavy abuse before peening. There is hardly any recoil and it will shoot accurately almost any 9mm load.
Trigger is exceptional, awaiting some springs to try, but just turning the mainspring screw out for the time being and it's almost perfect as is. With deep seated Federal primers you can make it stupidly light.
Clylinders are already chamfered (very lightly) for fast reloads.
TK Customs makes the moonclips for S&W, so they can bought easily.

Very, very impressed with this package, a little pricey at $1400 tax in, but worth every penny IMHO (I have handled an Alpha and no offense, but this is on another level)

Now just awaiting my 929, which looks to be a long wait.

S&W did that themselves when they made them 7- and 8-shot guns, effectively making them unusable in IDPA and IPSC

It's totally usable in IPSC, that's why I bought it. Instead of loading super light .45 acp for Minor, now I can just shoot this and leave the 625 for major.
Only difference with this is that you don't shoot the last shot (7th). Not an issue if you're used to just shooting 6 anyways. It's a perfect IPSC Revolver minor gun.

The Mrs. Purchased a Charter Arms Pit bull in 9mm, neat gun, doesn't need clips but the trigger pull..... About 20lbs in double.
Single is fine.
Needs a little polish, the fit is good, buy the finish, not so.
The one you are looking at looks nice, I wouldn't say no.

Thanks everybody for your opinion, I was trying to get some info because it could be my first wheel gun.

Having owned a number of S&W 547s and S&W 940s plus a couple of Ruger Speed sixes. I will not attempt to talk you out of a 9mm revolver.

For the money the older S&W .38 Specials or .357 Mags are good value and sweet guns. I just bought another one. I have a 9mm revolver as well but it is a Ruger S/A convertible. I have two revolvers that use moon clips and the moon clips are a PITA. I just ordered a de-moon clip tool so this should help. I have not tried the non-steel moon clips they may be good. In the winter time a revolver is the way to go, don't loose the brass in the snow, and never have to look for brass.

After some thought, I'll give you some negatives, just to round it out.

The MIM trigger and hammer finish look like sh*t (as most new S&W revos do)
The nanny internal lock is retarded and also looks like sh*t
The stock rubber grip is useless for speed reloading, or speed shooting.
It only comes with 2 moonclips, which sucks b*lls
The chamfer is on the UBER light side (I may increase it, we"ll see)
The extractor isn't staked like my 625-3, so it wobbles around a bit.

Having said that, none of the above affect the performance, just personal stuff.

Thought I'd round out the review a bit.
No matter what you decide, a 9mm revo is sublime.
